Baking and the holidays goes hand in hand. Especially around Christmas and Thanksgiving. Baking is just a way to express how you love and care for someone or it can be a bonding moment with people that you care about whether it’s your children, spouse, parent, or friend. I rarely bake but I enjoy it when I do especially when it is with my kids. I have fond memories of being in the kitchen and baking with my mom or cooking a meal. It gave us the opportunity to just bond and talk with each other. Now I do the same with my kids. Recently I wanted to bake with my kids but I had no idea what I wanted to bake. That same day I happened to check my email and was asked to participate in this awesome campaign with Betty Crocker. I enjoy using Betty Crocker products. The instructions on their products are really easy to follow which makes it easier for me to include my kids. Betty Crocker is sharing 24 Days of Cookies on their website. For 24 days you can go to their website and find new recipes. If you head over to the website you can find some great cookie recipes. You have a lot of options to choose from. My kids and I chose to make Holiday Blossom Cookies after heading over to the website and taking some time to look it over. One thing that is always a good combination is cookies and chocolate. Plus prep for this recipe and cooking it was less than 60 minutes. After making our choice we headed to our local Winn Dixie to pick up our ingredients.
Once we got home we wasted no time getting in the kitchen and getting our bake on. What I love our recipe is that it was so easy. All you need is the following ingredients:
- 1 pouch of Betty Crocker’s sugar cookies (Everything you need to make the cookies is on the back)
- 4 tablespoons of colored sugar
- 36 Hershey kisses
Tyler and Nishe’ mixed the ingredients together. For whatever reason arguing is to a minimum when they are in the kitchen. They just work really well together in the kitchen. I mainly just told them the ingredients. I did add in the egg. I love to see them get along.
Afterwards I spooned the cookies on to the baking sheet and placed them in the oven for 8-10 minutes. Then when they came out of the oven Nishe’ and I placed the Hershey kisses on top of them. We waited long enough for them to cool down and gave them a try. They were so delicious. Another thing I loved about this recipe is that Tyler could eat them and not worry about anything getting into his braces. My poor child love his chocolate but can’t have it often due to his braces. The heat from the cookies made the chocolate soft enough for him to have.
Here is a picture of the finished product:
