Last week when I sat down to style my hair I decided I wanted a bun. Now being that I know my hair doesn’t react well to being pulled up too often and I knew I wanted this style for more than a day I decided to braid it. Oh yeah and the fact that I am not a fan of doing my hair every day. Usually if I wear my hair in one style for too long when it’s down it starts to break off and come out. That’s another reason for my decision to braid. I did this style on freshly washed and conditioned hair and it took me a little over an hour to do. Which is expected since I am doing it myself. I actually did two rows of braids instead of one. The second row is well hidden and then I twisted the ponytail and pinned it. Another thing you may not know about me is I’m not a fan of my forehead so I often have some kind of bang. I left some hair out and twisted it and then pinned it up as well.
At first I didn’t think I was going to like this style. I have done braided ponytails on myself before and didn’t really like them. I think it was because my hair was shorter then and because of the way I braided it. I would either braid part of my hair and leave the top unbraided because when it wasn’t braided my puff look bigger or I would braid it all the way and it would look shorter. Which is why I hadn’t done one in a while. I actually like this one and can see myself doing it again as my hair grows more. So this is another demonstration of how I’m stepping outside my comfort zone with my hair. A few months ago I never would’ve tried this.
