Every year near the end of the year I do like everyone else and decide what things I want to change for the following year. Most things are repeats from the things that I said I wanted to change at the beginning of the year and the year before that and the year before that and so forth. I think you get the picture. Number one at the top of the list is things like get in shape. Now don’t get me wrong some things have changed and other things haven’t. Like my weight. Ha ha ha! For whatever reason it is difficult for me to stick to “resolutions”. So I have decided that maybe the word resolution isn’t the word that I should be using anymore. Maybe I need a new word. Something that will make me commit. This time I think I am going to use the word goals. Here are my reasons why I am trying a new word.
- The word resolution no longer says commit to me. It sounds like just a mere thought to me. It is just something I am doing because it is what everyone else is doing. I feel it is just expected that you make resolutions.
- Resolutions do not last long. I mean I try for a while but for me usually not even a month later I am back to what I was doing before.
- My final reason is because the word resolution and procrastinator don’t go together. I am queen of saying that I will do it later. I have to take away my excuses.

I completely agree! The whole “new year, new me” thing and the word “resolution” both need to go. I’m setting goals and making lifestyle changes to build on everything I accomplished in 2015, not committing to unrealistic new years resolutions.
Happy New Year,
Allison

I just feel like the word resolution puts so much pressure on a person. I think any changes made should happen gradually.

I end the year thinking what I want or need in the coming year. I choose a word or phrase to represent what I want. This year my theme is Focus!

I am going to try this technique. I actually like it. Except I’m going to choose three.
