Back to school season is in full swing. It can be kind of hard to get kids back into the hang of things. They are going from three months of carefree summer days to back into a schedule. It can be hard to just turn that switch on. I know it is hard for me. So I know it can be hard for my kids as well. So they have to be allowed to adjust. But even when they get into the swing of things they need time to wind down when they get home. When I was a stay at home mom I noticed homework is easier for my kids when they have a minute to calm down before doing homework.
Here are some tips that I used to help my kids wind down for the school day:
- Give them about thirty minutes to an hour to just rest: One thing that made homework easier for my kids was I didn’t make them jump into homework right away. They were allowed some time to just watch TV or Youtube. This then gave them time to rest their brain after a long day. Youtube is also a great resource for helping with homework, so you might want to use a youtube to mp3 converter if you want to save any videos that you see that you think might help them to complete their work faster. It can be an engaging way to learn and will make them feel like they’re doing something they enjoy rather than something they’re forced to do by their teachers.
- Ask them about their day: My kids were able to unload everything that happened in their day. I would ask them what was going on. We would just sit and talk about whatever was on their mind. This allowed them to clear their mind and focus on their work.
- A snack: A snack boosts my kids’ energy. My kids love all kinds of snacks but their go to when they have an option is fruit snacks. They have loved them since they were babies. Welch’s fruit snacks is one of their favorites. They can take them with them when they are on the go or whenever.
Welch’s fruit snacks make the perfect snack because they are full of vitamin C, are fat free, and low in sugar. You don’t have to feel guilty about giving them to your kids at all. You can also feel good that they are getting important nutrients while getting a great tasty snack.
