I never knew how much I was missing out on when renting a vacation home until I went on vacation two weeks ago. For the first time, The Husband and I rented a vacation home with my niece. My niece wanted to go to Peru and she found this amazing Peru Vacation Agent, but we said we’d do that next year because I found this beautiful vacation home first! It looked good in the pictures, but I didn’t know how much I would actually enjoy it until we got there. The house was so nice and well taken care of. I actually had no complaints! Now our vacation home was 30 minutes from the beach but I had no complaints. 30 minutes was a lot better than being 4 hours away which is how far away we live. All the owner of the home asked of us was that we leave the home in the same condition that we found it. I have a friend who wanted a permanent vacation home so she got herself a timeshare… big mistake for her, she’s now looking into how to get out of a hilton grand vacation timeshare so she can save her money. She should have rented. There are so many great benefits to renting a vacation home rather than going to a hotel. I thought that I would share my 5 most important ones.
- Privacy- You have way more privacy than you would in a hotel.
- Noise level- We don’t have to worry about being too loud for our neighbors and we don’t have to worry about them too loud for us. This really benefitted us because in total we had 6 kids 15 – 4 with us.
-
More space- This was my favorite part. We had enough space for all of us.
-
Options- In a home you have the option to either eat at the house or go out to eat. Not many hotels give you that option.
-
Saves money- Until now I didn’t know that you can rent a vacation home at the same price of a hotel’s nightly rate.
There are other benefits such as being able to spend more time with your family away from attractions. Usually, depending on the family size you have to get more than one hotel room. I must say that my first experience renting a vacation home was an awesome one. Especially if you are planning to go on a road trip and don’t want to travel overseas, choose destinations such as some suburban city surrounded by mountains and greenery (for example, Charlotte). To get a hold of a vacation home, you can contact Charlotte real estate agent and get some assistance. Also, you might have to discuss the house rules and regulations (if any).
I really enjoyed my stay at vacation home and I hope to do it again soon. It was really nice. However, many now tend to opt to buy tiny houses to take along with them on their trips across the country! Understandably, there might be problems, but the option not only facilitates downsizing but also saves a lot of money for you in terms of hotels, food and other amenities!
Have you rented a vacation home before? If not after reading the benefits would you consider renting one?

I’m thinking of taking a trip to Europe this summer and want to stay for a longer period of time. I like your point that I’d have more privacy and save money by renting somewhere. I also think it would be a benefit to rent because you’ll experience more of the local culture in a more intimate manner.

Vacation homes are definitely better than getting a hotel room especially if you have a large family. I think it’s more convenient too since it has everything you need, including a kitchen to help save with the costs of eating out while you’re on vacation.

I love staying in a home instead of a house because of the privacy and with three kids, there is room to stretch out.

It’s good to know from this article that you were able to enjoy enough space for your entire family when you rented a vacation home. We’ll be staying in St. Helena, CA, for the holidays and thought that it would cost us a lot if we were to book a hotel for our big family with limited space. Maybe we should look into luxury vacation rental properties and compare if we’ll be able to save a few bucks.

Renting a vacation home is always more cost-effective than say living in a resort. If you love pets then house sitting could be even a more cost-effective option because it will help you live in the house for free.
