This past weekend my family and I continued our waterfall craze. This time we headed to Helen, Georgia to visit Anna Ruby Falls. I have been wanting to visit this waterfall for a long time. I was thrilled that we had the opportunity to do it this past weekend. This was our very first time going to Helen, Georgia. It is so fun to step outside of our little area and explore our state.
We started our morning off at about eleven. We had to stop and pick up their Uncle P. He came with us. They love hanging out with their uncle. Then we made the drive to Helen. It took us about an hour and a half to get to Helen. The drive up is beautiful once you crossover into Helen. You get to see mountains and wilderness. Things you just don’t get when you live in the perimeter. I always forget I enjoy nature until we make trips like this. I wish I had gotten pictures on the ride up but I try to just enjoy the ride in the car. The kids as always were talking about everything that they saw and pointing out what they could see. They were excited about seeing another waterfall. When we got up there we paid the $9 admission. Then we started our hike up. It was simply beautiful! We took pictures almost every step of the way. We talked about everything we saw and made small talk with other people who came to see the falls like we did. It only took us about an hour to walk the trail. We had to be on the look out for snakes cause of course we saw the signs warning us about them. You’ll be happy to know that we didn’t come across any. Although I was a little disappointed it would’ve been pretty cool to see one. But there is nothing like seeing nature’s beauty.
As we were headed towards Anna Ruby Falls we drove through the city of Helen. It is a really small town and is built German style to replicate the Bavarian Alps. It is so cool! The whole town has German based businesses. We decided to go back and walk around after we went to the waterfall. It was interesting to see some of the small businesses. We got to taste some German chocolate. It was so delicious! Then we went inside a German bakery and I got to taste a real German chocolate éclair. It tasted better than any chocolate éclair I had before. I also enjoyed seeing the horses and carriages around the city. I love horses. I had to get a picture with one of them. He was so pretty and he had his hair done. You gotta love it. I told The Husband that I think that we should totally go up and spend more than just a day when we get the chance. I think it would be great to spend a weekend. I would love to explore more.
