I have been a huge fan of A Different World since the original show was on the air in 1987. If you ask my husband he will tell you I have watched this series over and over again. I can quote the important lines from my favorite episodes. I was rooting for Denise and Dwayne to get together and was sad when that didn’t happen. But I was then rooting for Dwayne and Whitley. I say all this to say that when I heard there was going to be a reboot I was so down for it. I’ve been waiting for it ever since I heard the rumors.
Well guess what. The series dropped on Thursday and by Friday night I had completed all 10 episodes. I’m ready for season 2. I’m speaking it into existence. There will be another season. I think they did this show so well. They paid homage to the people who passed away and gave us answers to some of the questions that I had when the series ended as well as answered questions I had when I heard the series was coming back. I don’t feel like anything was forced everything just flowed really well together. It was really great to see which couples made it and who didn’t. I most certainly loved the surprises that showed up in the show. I also like how they weaved things from the original into the show. I know for a fact that I’m going to watch it over again as well as the original. I think they did a great job with the cast. I think Maleah Joi Moon was a great pick to play Whitley and Dwayne’s daughter. She absolutely made me believe she was birthed from Whitley & Dwayne. Then I feel like Alijah Kai did exactly what she was supposed to do as Deborah’s friend/roommate. I definitely enjoyed the camaraderie that the group created. I also think they did a great job with naturally bringing in the original cast. Let’s just say some things never change. But the show made me laugh and I think it’s great how they addressed important issues still. It was just wonderful.
If you want to see both the original and the new show you can find it on Netflix. Trust me I’m probably going to watch it a thousand more times to prepare for the next season. I’m definitely watching the original again. Cause I have even more questions that I need answers to.
