Today I did something I rarely do. I took a day off. Well this day was actually planned two weeks ago but nonetheless I did it. I haven’t had a day off since May. I’m not counting Memorial Day and Independence Day cause those days are given. Actually since Independence Day fell on a Sunday this year I didn’t get that day off. Anyway I have been working steady since May like I said. Plus the days off I took besides my birthday and the day after was for specific reasons. Like picking my kids up from their respective colleges. So I decided I just needed a day that was for a reason but not really.
The reason was just to spend a day with my family. Well two-thirds of my family since my son was at work until later in the day. My kids are getting ready to go back to college so I really wanted to spend some time with them before we drop them off. One leaves tomorrow and one leaves next week. Plus I also wanted to grab some alone time with The Husband who had a day off as well. So I guess this day really did have a purpose. I am glad I took the day though. The Husband and I were able to get in a bike ride. It was really nice out and during the week the parks and trails are less crowded especially since school is back in. We rode to a restaurant that we previously visited a few months ago for breakfast. The food was okay but let’s just say it was better the first time we visited.
After our bike ride we met up with Nishe’ and went shopping so she could pick up a few items that she needed for school. I must say it is much ore fun shopping with her when she is spending her own money instead of mine. Let me tell you college isn’t cheap. I have to say though I am so proud of her and Tyler because they worked so hard this summer to make sure they were able to buy what they needed for school. They even took the cats to the vet and made sure they were taken care of before they went back to school. When she got done purchasing her items she looked at The Husband and I and said “I’m so proud of myself I purchased everything by myself. So she is all set.
Then we all went home and waited for Tyler to get done working so we could get a bite to eat as a family of four for the last time. Well the last time until November. We wound up going to a near by burger place and just spending the time catching up with each other.I really enjoyed talking to them. I can tell they have grown so much this summer. My babies are not going back as the same people they came home as before.
I really am glad I took the day off because I didn’t know it but I really needed it. This week has been a really busy one. The first day of school is always pretty crazy. I did totally survive though. This day of rest will make be more energized for Monday. I am not the play bookie type but taking a day or two here and there is totally okay with me in my book.
