I received free entry into Six Flags to write about this event. All opinions are my own.
Every year people look forward to Fright Fest at Six Flags. Fright Fest is the event held by Six Flags around Halloween every year. I never knew but I found out Friday that going at night is the best time to visit. Nishe’, my brother, and I attended a media event there Friday. Last year The Husband, Nishe’, Tyler, and I went last year but we went during the day. It was so much fun. However I think going at night is when you get the full experience.
We started the day with the Uprising show at Big Top Terror. This show was so much fun. It was a very entertaining show. The surprise was at then end of the show they let all monsters out. It was really surprising. All of the performers playing monsters were great and really convincing. One guy really had me freaked out. It was funny I was scared and trying to take a picture at the same time. We also saw the show Dr. Fright’s Dead Man’s Party Show. This was our first time seeing this show as well. It was really entertaining. I loved the music and everyone was really great! I loved how they interacted with the audience. Nishe’ really enjoyed it and so did I.
We also were given a behind the scene tour of how the performers’ makeup is applied. We actually got to watch an actress go through the whole process which can last from 10 to 30 minutes depending on what character you are. We were shown some of the prosthesis that they use on the performers. They look so real. So they use a combination of things like silicone masks and alcohol based airbrush makeup. It was really cool to see everything.
A number of the monsters scared the daylights out of me. Only one scared the mess out of Nishe’. It was this guy dressed up as leaves he blended in so well that neither one of us noticed him. He jumped out of nowhere and scared us. We had a blast going around and seeing everything. It was really fun. This time we were more engrossed in doing the activities that were around the park. We didn’t ride too many rides. We always have a different experience when we visit Six Flags. I love it!
Fright Fest runs until Oct. 31. Go and enjoy the fun with your family. I would not recommend this show for children under 13.
