A few months ago The Husband and I decided to completely change the way we eat. We have agreed to call it a lifestyle change because he hates the word diet. He said he doesn’t feel as if he’s on a diet at all. He feels like he is just making better decisions to get healthy. So I after thinking about his view point I can understand where he is coming from. So I try my best not to refer it as a diet. Although I have slipped up a time or two. Now if you have been following my blog for awhile then I know that you have noticed that I have been going back and forth with my own lifestyle changes. I think one of the biggest struggles I had was sticking to my changes while everyone else in the house was continuing to eat whatever they wanted. Now that isn’t their fault because I never expressed to them that I had difficulty with it. I would stick with it for awhile and then usually it was right back to where I was. Again not their fault because I should have had better will power. Each time I would try I would get better but it was still a struggle to stick with it. I think this time while doing it with my husband it might be a little different. there now if you have been following my blog for a while then I know that you have noticed that I have been going back and forth with my own lifestyle changes. Like I said before I have noticed that since I have changed the way I am eating and my husband has too there are a few benefits. I will share them with you:
- You have someone who can keep you on track. Now it took us some time to figure out how to encourage each other without making it seem as if we were coming from a negative place. For example, as I mentioned before we don’t use the word diet. But also we are careful how we word things so that we don’t sound judgmental.
- You can discover new meals together. We have found some different recipes that work for both of us. This might help to have a healthy body and a fresh mind throughout the day. Apart from good recipes, adding nutritious ingredients to your meal can prevent your body from falling into the hands of health problems. - You have a workout partner. The Husband and I have found things that we enjoy together. We both enjoy bike riding and walking. We even tried a combination of walking and jogging a few weeks ago. Some couples also try indoor gym equipment like the kind sold by Motion Fitness.
- You can enjoy different restaurants. Since we do not eat at the common fast food places anymore. So we have been having fun discovering places that offer healthy options.
- You find a new way to bond. As you are encouraging and celebrating each other’s victories you are able to connect over the work you have done. Not being in it alone makes you feel even better. Especially when you feel supported.
Since we have made the changes to better our health we both have slimmed down a great deal. I am so proud of the both of us. I know I am starting to feel much better about myself. I use to hate the way my body looked before but I am starting to fall in love with it again.
