Last night the show Bob Hearts Abishola premiered. I have been looking forward to this show since I saw the preview. Just to give you a quick run down of what the show is about. Bob is a compression sock businessman from Detroit. He has a heart attack and is rushed to the hospital. When he wakes up he sees his nurse Abishola and is instantly attracted to her. Abishola is a cardiac nurse from Nigeria who has a young son. Bob falls for her instantly and her disinterests makes him want to pursue her even more.
In the first episode we of course see Bob’s reaction to meeting Abishola. Seeing Abishola I can immediately see why he is drawn to her. Abishola is gorgeous! She is a no nonsense woman. But yet you can see that Bob is getting to her with his kindness and purusing her in a respecful way. He promises to give her some of hi socks as a token of appreciation for caring for him. When he is released from the hospital he tries to make good on his promise and take her the socks at the hospital only to find out that she isn’t there. He wants to give her the socks so bad he bribes a nurse with $100 for her name and address. I also like the peek that we got into Abishola’s world. She is a hardworking single mom who stays with her Aunt and Uncle.We see it when Bob shows up to her home to give her the socks. Bob then shows up again at the hospital to bring her more socks and catches her while she is busy. That’s when he expresses his feelings. We also see how good of a mother she is when she goes up to the school and defends her son for an incident that happened that resulted in him getting some time off from school.
Right now this show has my full attention. I really like the actors who play Bob and Abishola. They are very talented. I have seen Billy Gardell in a few shows. I am just now getting to know Folake Olowofoyeku’s work. I can’t wait to see where this show goes. I personally think it is funny. I love that Bob has a job that you wouldn’t expect him to have. Usually in shows people are lawyers or a police officer. I can’t wait to see where this show goes. I will be tuning in every Monday at 8:30 on CBS.
