I finished my second book of 2022. I’ve started my third book. I was torn on reviewing this book simply because I wasn’t a huge fan of it. It wasn’t horrible but it certainly could have been better. So I’m just going to be honest about it. So here we go.
The book I just finished reading is called The Kissing Game. It’s the story of Rena Jackson a woman who works at a dive bar. She is ready to quit her job and fulfill her dream of opening her own salon. She is a romantic who wants to find love like in the many romance movies and books she has read. The only person who has caught her attention is a tall German mechanic/shop owner named Axel Heller. However she isn’t sure if he is interested in her.
Axel Heller is a tall German mechanic who is looking for love. He wants to start a relationship with Rena but he is afraid of hurting her. He has unresolved issues from his past. He is also unsure if Rena is interested in him and whether or not he can romance her.
Okay let me start with what I liked about tiger book. I liked the way Axel woos Rena. He gives her a series of gift. Some are good and some are misses but I like his effort. I like how Rena give him a chance. I like how strong she is even when some obstacles come up. I also like how supportive Axel is when Rena is going through things. I like that no one in their circle has any objections to them being together. There was one person on Axel’s side but he wasn’t really close to him. I thought they were a good pair.
Now what I didn’t like about the book. I didn’t like the way certain characters just seemed to pop up out of nowhere. The author tried to explain them but to me it was just odd. Then I didn’t like how doubtful Rena was. I mean why couldn’t she be sure of herself. I also didn’t like the story of why Axel thought he was going to hurt Rena. I mean it makes a little sense but I think it could have been different. At times I felt like the author was just throwing things into the story to make it better. But the story ended well.
I don’t think I’ll be reading this book again. But it’s part of a series so I’m curious about the other books. I would read other books by this author. Maybe the other books are better. I just wouldn’t read this over again. So on to my next book. I’m always looking for recommendations. So feel free to share what you are reading.
