I am finally back with another great book to share with you. I am very picky about the books that I share. If I read a book and it doesn’t really capture my attention or I don’t think that I will pick it up and read it again I won’t share it. So I have been spending my time finding the perfect book and I finally found one. This book is the first book in a series that I have started reading. I love reading book series. It’s like a long tv show or movie that I have going on in my head. Instead of copying the description from the back of the book like I have done before I thought that I would try to come up with a description of my own.
One moment Adrienne de Simone thinking about how her past had led to her hatred of beautiful men and her living in Seattle. She had discovered that the man who she thought loved her was actually using her as a drug mule without her knowledge. The man was also prepared to use the fact that she grew up an orphan as a means to make her take the fall for his crimes. After discovering this she had fled her home in New Orleans, Lousiana and was attempting to start a new life in Seattle. She had no idea that a vegenful fairy would soon catapult her over 500 years back in time where she would be forced to mary a man and be made to accept a way of life she knew nothing about. The man is the perfect description of a beautiful man the type of beautiful man that she has vowed not to fall in love with ever again. Will she be able to set aside her hate for him enough to accept his love and to trust him with her heart?
Sidheach James Lyon Douglas was known has “The Hawk” thanks to his reputation as a predator on the battlefield but mostly the rumor of his skills in the bedroom amongst the ladies. Because of his good looks and his rumored skills he never had any problems with getting a woman to join him. One thing he has never experienced was love. He was afraid to love because he was under service of the king. King James would do anything to take away his happiness because the man wanted The Hawk wanted to suffer because he held a grudge against The Hawk’s father and mother who died many years ago in battle. He wanted to get back at The Hawk’s parents because they married. King James wanted to marry Lydia The Hawk’s mother but she refused and married his father. Once his father died he made The Hawk take over his father’s burden. For 15 years The Hawk was in service to the king and did whatever he asked because the King threatened to take out his land and the people who lived on it. On the last day of his service the King ordered the Hawk to married a woman named Mad Janet. The Hawk agreed to protect his land and his people. He doesn’t know that he is about to meet the woman he is meant to spend his life with. He also doesn’t know the challenge he will have to face to gain her love. He will have to get past her walls of defense and help her accept his past for them to be together. Another thing he doesn’t know that a fairy with a grudge will try to make this difficult for him.
Will Adrienne and The Hawk be able to find their way to each other? Will they be able to get through their trouble and live the happy life they are meant to have? You will definitely have to read the book to find out.
I’m going to be honest I was definitely a bit skeptical of this book. Actually I am skeptical of all books until I get into them I have read too many books that look good but then turn out to be a horrible read. Well this book was not one of them. All the events in this book happened due to jealousy. A rumored conquest with a Queen forced a fairy to try to get revenge upon a man. He wanted to make sure that The Hawk would never find any happiness. So his decision was to dangle a woman ( the carrot ) in front of him who he knew he would fall in love with him. I loved how The Hawk would never give up. to me showed his strength and how head strong he is. He could see straight passed Adrienne’s stubbornness.
I like Adrienne but she made me mad by allowing one man to change how she saw other men who had nothing to do with what he did to her. I mean I can understand but there is no way a man is going to change my way of seeing other. I am the live and learn type of person. I usually only have to experience something once before I become more aware of what is going on. However I liked her more once she stopped blaming The Hawk for the other man’s wrong doing and also she stopped holding his past against him.
Although The Hawk and Adrienne were the main characters of this story my favorite character was The Hawk’s mother Lydia. This woman was just totally awesome to me. She accepted Adrienne with open arms and treated her like her own daughter. She never chose sides. SHe just watched and helped when she could.
I totally would recommend this book for others to read. There are some romantic scenes here and there but not too many. I loved the ending. I am only hoping the rest of this series is just as good. I can’t wait to see.

You should show the cover of the books in your posts. I remember when covers were used to really entice people to buy.
