The more I read this Highlanders series written by Karen Marie Moning the more I fall in love with it. Since I started reading the first book in this series I have come to really like her writing style. She is so very talented. All her stories just seem to flow together. I recently found out that she never intended for this set of books to be a series it just accidentally happened that way. I find that so fascinating. I don’t know why but I do. I recently completed the fourth book in her series. This book is called Kiss of The Highlander.
Kiss of the Highlander Warrior starts off with Gwen Cassidy visiting the land of Scotland. She is basically looking for a change in her life. She had lost her two parents whom she loved dearly but just never got along with. They were two scientists who had high expectations of their only child. Their beliefs also had an affect on her. They didn’t really believe in love in fact they only got together because they felt that they were compatible enough to have a brilliant child together. Gwen is definitely brilliant but she wanted more out of life than just staying in the lab trying to carry out her parents dreams and expectations for her. She had switched jobs in hopes of living a normal life and finding something more fulfilling. Unfortunately she didn’t find what she wanted so she thought that going on a vacation would help. She wound up having a vacation that she never expected. She had no idea that falling into a cavern and meeting Drustan MacKeltar was going to change her life forever. She was going to get exactly what she wanted which was a change in her life. The man that she has fallen on will change her life in ways that she couldn’t imagine. This man who claims to have been sleeping for more than 500 years and needs to find a way back to save his love ones. She thinks that he has lost his mind but since he claims to have proof she agrees to help him. She never imagined she would wind up 500+ years in the past and that the man she had fallen in love with wasn’t with her. Well his past self is there but she has to find a way to use the spell given to her by his future self to merge the memories with his past self. She winds up in an adventure of a life time which ends up in a great ending.
Drustan Mackeltar had no idea that when he was racing to meet the person who had information on the person who murdered his brother that he was going to wind up taking a 500+ year nap. A paranoid mother who believed Drustan was going to harm her son decided to take matters in her own hands and do what she thought was necessary to protect her child. She had promised her son that he would not harm MacKeltar so instead she paid some gypsies to put him to sleep and hide him away. He also didn’t know that he would find the woman he would fall in love with over 500+ years in the future either. When he was woken up by the beautiful Gwen Cassidy and found himself in a cave he became determined to find out how he wound up there. Gwen becomes the key to helping him find out what happened. Together he and Gwen embark on am adventure to save his family and to find out who wants him gone.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was definitely funny at times. I love how Gwen and Drustan’s relationships forms. They both have to learn to trust each other. I think what I really liked about the book was that they both had to adjust each other’s time period. The most hilarious thing about the book was how Gwen figured out how to get Drustan’s past self to listen to her. I give this book a total thumbs up and definitely recommend others to read it.
