Book Review: Tattered Love And Conflicted Love By Lola Stark

A few weeks ago I was given the opportunity to read and review two books. One was called Tattered Love and the other book is called Conflicted Love. They are part of the Needle Kiss Series written by author Lola Stark. As many of you know I love book series. These two books are about two brothers named Mace and Trip and their journeys to win over the women that they love.

Here is my review of the first book in the series Tattered Love. This book is about Mace and his woman Scarlett. They meet when Mace returns from a tour of duty in the army and stops by Scarlett’s tattoo shop Needle Kiss to visit his brother Trip and to get a tattoo. Neither one knew that the day that he walked in would send them down the road of a whirlwind romance. Both of them have been hurt before in the past by people that they allowed to be closed to them. Mace lost his daughter and the mother of the child is using his guilt about it to get what she wants from him. Scarlett is still recovering from a relationship from a boyfriend that constantly cheated on her. Both know that they love each other but they both have to learn to trust each other but themselves as well. Their love for each other is tested even further when a series of incidents that occur causes Scarlett’s life to be endangered. They have to figure out who it is so that they can move on with their lives.

There were a number of things that I truly loved about this book. For instance I really liked the characters. They were different from the characters I am used to in romance novels. It was refreshing to read something different. I loved the fact that they had the tattoos. That is what drew me to this book. Merely the fact that it was different. Some other things that I liked about the book was that I loved that Scarlett is her own woman with her own business. That let’s Mace know that she isn’t out for his money. I love Scarlett’s personality she is a no nonsense woman but soft at the same time.I also love Mace’s personality which is also hard and soft at the same time. There were some funny part’s on this book as well. There were parts of it that extremely cracking up.

The only negative thing I have to say about Tattered Love is that I wish some things were explained better. Like the history between Mace and the mother of his deceased child. Some things just seemed to appear out of thin air and some events that occurred just seem to happen out of no where. That’s the only thing I wish were different but overall it was a great book.

Conflicted Love (Needle’s Kiss)“>

Conflicted Love follows the story of Trip and Teeny. Trip is a well known playboy and Teeny is his friend and his boss’s best friend who he basically considers forbidden fruit. Teeny wanted to stay away from trip for his playboy ways and she was afraid that he would break her heart. She has been hurt before in the past. Her father had left the family and constantly cheated on her mom and her mom was dealing with mental illness. They do all they can to fight their attraction to each other. Things change one day when Teeny comes into Needle Kiss to get a piercing from Trip and then things change further after one night of drinking turns into a video from tubev.sex. They are forced to deal with their attraction to each other because in 9 months their lives were going to change and then they would have no choice but to deal with each other.

I have to say these two truly crack me up. They are two of the most stubborn people that I have ever read about. Their stubbornness makes for some funny reading. There were parts when I couldn’t help but laugh. Teeny’s stubbornness is worse than Trip’s cause she has convinced herself that Trip wants nothing more than to rip her poor heart to shreds. She also has convinced herself that the feelings he is expressing is because she is about to have his child. But she can’t help but to let him in as Trip does his best to prove her wrong. I like that you can see her shield crack as the story goes further. Trip on the other hand has to come to grips with the fact that he is doing the one thing that he always vowed not to do and that was fall in love. He had convinced himself that he was going to be a playboy for the rest of his life. That is until Teeny walked into his life. When she did it took him a minute to realize but he never stood a chance. But when he comes to grips with it the man really came to grips with it and he went after his woman. I think it was great to see these two basically grow up and come together. I totally can appreciate it.

Again the one thing that really stood out to me was how different the characters were. The tattoos and piercings really drew me in. They really were a great contrast to each other. I wish this story was a little longer. I would have loved to read about their wedding. I don’t have anything I really disliked about this book. I thought it was well written. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It was so much fun to read.
