I am back with another book from Karen Marie Moning. This is the third book in her Highlanders Series. The name of the book is called The Highlander’s Touch. I must say that out of all three of the books I have read so far out of this eight book series this one is my favorite so far. This one has cracked me up the most. I love the relationship between Lisa and Circenn. Their relationship is definitely a funny one. Before I get into how much I like this book let me give you a hint as to what it is about. As always with a book I enjoy I am going to try my best not to give away the entire story.
Do you know the phrase “Curiosity killed the cat”? Well Lisa Stone comes close to understanding this phrase better than anyone. Her curiosity takes her to the year 1314. Over seven hundred years into the past. She touched a flask in the museum that she worked at and that flask is what landed her in her current situation. Which is on the brink of possibly losing her life because she was the one who accompanied the flask when it was returned to the rightful owner. She is forced to leave behind her dying mother and life as she knows it. Right into the arms of Circenn Brodie. She regrets touching the flask even more when she finds out that she may be stuck in 1314 forever because although it brought her there it cannot send her home. Also things are getting more difficult because she is falling in love with the Scottish Highlander that has vowed to kill her. She wants nothing more than to return home and to be with her mom in her final moments but she is torn between returning home or staying with the man that she loves. Lisa is determined to find a way to return home but she also wants to be with the love of her life.
When the woman carrying the flask that he had cursed some time ago fell into his bathroom Circenn Brodie fully intended to carry out the oath that he had taken. That oath was to kill whomever accompanied the flask. What he hadn’t counted on was the bearer of that flask being the beauty who was now in front of him. He had no idea that Lisa Stone would cause him to do things that in all his years of life he had never once considered doing. He was a man who believed in his rules and one of his rules was to keep his promises and oaths. He had no idea that she would have him breaking not only this rule but many others. Nor did he know that she was going to come to mean so much to him.
These two are so stubborn. They do everything they can to fight falling in love. But as most of us know when it’s meant to be then it’s meant to be. They are destined to be together but they both have to accept it. They both have to come to some decisions and accept some things. I think that they totally compliment each other. I think the fact that they both are strong minded works for them but it kind of works against them as well. Circenn has to learn that it is okay to step outside of his rules and to love again. Lisa has to learn that she is worth being loved and that her life can change being with Circenn. That even though some events happened in her life that made her life rough that it is okay to put herself first and to be happy. That she doesn’t have to take the world on by herself. This was definitely a great story. I think I would definitely read this book again.
