I often wonder what makes a pasta dish so good. Is it the sauce? The pasta? The stuff you add to it? Over the past few months I have been enjoying getting in my kitchen and experimenting with new dishes. This is the latest one. I call it Cheesy Pepper Chicken Bake. I got a chance to make this dish when Bzzagent sent me Hemisfares Italian Flat Egg Noodles and Hemisfares Bolognese pasta sauce with Barolo wine to review.
Since this was a new sauce and pasta I wanted to try something different. Something besides the normal ground turkey I use. So I went in my refrigerator to explore what I had. I found some green and yellow peppers. I also had some turnips and grilled chicken strips. I took everything out of the refrigerator and got to work. I cut up the chicken, peppers, and turnips. I placed them in my skillet and began to sauté them. I of course had my water for the pasta on the stove waiting for it to boil. After awhile I added the sauce. I was a little skeptical about the sauce because it has wine in it. I don’t drink alcohol. I did a little research and spoke to a friend until I was sure it wouldn’t have any affect on me. I did let it cook a little longer to be on the safe side. Then I put the noodles in the water to cook. These noodles didn’t take long to cook at all. I really like that. Because they are kind of thin it made them cook quicker. I can appreciate that. Once everything was done I mixed them together, placed them in a pan, and then added cheese on the top. Afterwards I put the pan in the oven for about 15 minutes. This is what I got:
It looked so delicious when it came out that I couldn’t wait to try it. I dug right in and it tasted so good. The sauce added some great flavors to the food. I had never tried Bolognese sauce for myself before. Everything together made this a great dish. The noodles tasted really good. I think that this combination was just perfect. It was not too hard and my favorite part is that it didn’t take long to cook. I think it takes a combination of things to make a great pasta dish. I’m thinking that this one may be my best one.
