Thank you to Depend for sponsoring today’s post about the #dropyourpants for #underwareness movement.
A few years ago I went through this strange period to where after I went to sleep I would dream that I was in the bathroom relieving myself. Next thing I know I would jerk myself awake to find that I have wet the bed. Of course, I’m already embarrassed that it happened but now I have the added task of waking my husband up an hour or so before time for him to actually be up for work and tell him I have to change the sheets because I wet the bed. Really! At the time I was thinking that this is the type of stuff that little kids do. Here I was doing it at the age of 27. Now, mind you as far as I can remember I have never had any accidents wetting the bed as a kid so I couldn’t figure out why I was having them then. The bizarre situation left me traumatic. One can’t blame me for looking up bladder cancer symptoms, UTI infection, appendicitis, and so on. After it happening a few times I wound up treating myself as I did my kids when they were first potty training making sure that I stopped myself from drinking water at a certain time and going to the bathroom before I went to sleep. It eventually stopped and I never found out what caused it. I am just glad that it’s over.
The fact is that for many people bladder leakage is not a laughing matter. They deal with it on a daily basis. For some people they find it embarrassing. . It often gets in the way of them doing things that they enjoy. You would be surprised at how many people experience bladder leakage and they are under thee age of 50. So bladder leakage is not limited to people over the age of 50. Most people who experience this are usually between the ages of 20s’ and 50’s. Depend wants people who suffer from bladder leakage to know that they are not alone. One way that they are doing this is by starting the #DropYourPants for #Underwareness campaign. Each time anyone shares a personal video or picture of them dropping their pants for Underwareness using the hashtag #Dropyourpants and #Underwareness Depend will donate $1 to the charities Foundation for Continence and the United Way. They will donate up to $3 million dollars.
