I say the same line every time I share a new hiking adventure that my family and I go on. This was the best hike EVER! But seriously right now our hike through Cloudland Canyon State Park is at the top of my list despite having to go down 600 steps and back up again. I don’t think I will ever get used to steps. Honestly I swear I might have just stayed down there if I didn’t have to go home. This time we were accompanied by my brother. My kids love their uncle. We always have so much fun hanging out with him and I do to.
The Husband has actually been looking to go to Cloudland Canyon State Park for a few weeks now. He decided we should go ahead and go this past weekend. It is a good 2 1/2 hour drive from where we live. Parking is $5 if I remember correctly. When we arrived we got a cool surprise. A ranger was feeding some baby birds when we walked in. They were so tiny and cute! We only got to see them for a few minutes because they got cold but kids loved it. I mean how often do you get to see baby birds that close.
After seeing the birds we began our hike. There are several beautiful vantage points where you can take in the amazing views of Cloudland Canyon. I definitely recommend going to all the lookout spots that are designated throughout the park. I really think they are worth it and definitely great for pictures. We really took advantage of the beautiful scenery.
After checking out the lookout points then we went on to the trail to find the waterfalls. The hike was more stairs than nature but you get to see some great rock formations. They are so cool to see. The waterfalls are amazing! That is where the real fun begins. As usual my kids were off exploring as soon as we got there. I love that they like to explore. They had their uncle all over the place. I think they actually pushed him out of his comfort zone a little bit. They were climbing all over rocks and everything. We also got to see another waterfall but I didn’t get any pictures of that one. There was one other waterfall but by the time we got to the point where we could go to the other side we were all tired and hungry. We decided that we would just come back another time.
