I am so thrilled to be apart of this awesome campaign. School opens in just under 3 weeks in my area. I am already checking out the deals in my local sales paper to find the deals that I can get on school supplies for my children. Nope we haven’t received their list yet. I wish we did but we know that they at least need the basics such as pencil, paper, notebooks, backpacks, and a few other items. So that they will have some of what they need for the school year. But as I go through these sales papers I know that I won’t be spending as much money as their teachers will be.
I think that most people would agree that for all the work that teachers do that they are greatly underappreciated. Then on top of that in order to decorate their classrooms and get the supplies that they need to get through the school year it has to come out of their pockets. I read that teachers spend at least $1000 out of pocket to stock and decorate their classrooms. How sad is that? Which means sometimes because the teachers can’t get what they need then the students suffer. Which I am sure we prefer not to happen. I personally don’t think teachers should have to spend that much out of their own pocket. I think that the state that they are working in should help some if they don’t already and if they do, give more than they are given.
It is important for school supplies to be at the top of the list as schools need to be able to educate their children in a positive and beneficial way that can help them understand subjects better. For instance, science class can bring about a myriad of fun and information that can be used in day-to-day life as well as for those who are looking at a career within the science field. There are experiments you can do using a bunsen burner, periodic tables with the actual metals in them, liquids that can create light and foam, and so much more, all of this can ignite a passion within a child to learn further, this is why supplies are needed and money should be put into them.
Well Great Clips wants to help out both teachers and students alike. Their goal is to make sure that teachers have the resources they need to give students the education that they deserve & help families have a place to address their back-to-school needs.. So they have teamed up with the organization AdoptAClassroom.org. These two companies have started the campaign #GreatList. This is a contest where you have a chance to win your school supplies list. To enter is very simple. You click the link here. Then you upload your school supply list and enter your information.
You not only have the chance to possibly win your school supplies but you also have the opportunity to help out teachers here in the U.S. and in Canada. Great Clips has a great app. You simply download it to your IPhone or Android device. The app will allow you to locate a Great Clips in your area and set up an appointment. Then you just head on over. The great thing about this is for a limited time each time someone downloads the app Great Clips will make a donation to AdoptAClassroom.org. AdoptAClassroom’s sole purpose is to ease some of the financial difficulties that teachers face to supply their classroom. In fact they have helped two teachers already:
When you head over to the website to upload your back to school supply list you can also see a video about the two teachers who received a classroom makeover because of Great Clips and AdoptAClassroom.org. I have seen the video and trust me it is a definite must see. I hope you head over and not only enter the #GreatList contest for your chance to win but also download the app and help some great teachers. Winners are chosen every day and their supplies are shipped to their front door free of charge. Each entrant also receives a $2 off coupon for their first entry. So much good comes out of this it is hard to pass up.

This is a great campaign. I love the concept and the fact that it not only helps students but teachers as well. It’s really sad to know that teachers have to purchase their own supplies for their classrooms and that the school district doesn’t do this instead. Not many jobs require you to bring your own supplies and since schools are funded by tax dollars, they should set aside money to cover the cost of classroom needs.
