Do have that one restaurant that you drive by often and you think one day I’m going to eat there? Pollo Tropical was that restaurant for me. I used to look and think I think the food there would be really good. I actually have been doing that for years. I kind of have a problem in the decision-making department especially when it comes to trying something new. I actually took the plunge and tried Pollo Tropical for the first time last month. But it wasn’t my decision to stop by. It was actually The Husband’s idea. The kids were at school and he was out running errands when he called and asked me to get dressed. Now I never told him I wanted to try Pollo Tropical before. I kept it to myself. He swung by and picked me up and then we went and got my mother-in-law. I was wondering where he wanted to eat at and pulled up to Pollo Tropical. I chose to get the quarter chicken meal with black beans and corn. It was so delicious! The pickles that they served along with the meal were quite good. Since I love pickles, I ended up asking for an extra twice. I’m sure they would have to buy bulk pickles online to meet the increased demands. We also had corn. The Husband got a tropichop bowl along with macaroni. I am so picky about macaroni at restaurants. I think if a restaurant has macaroni it has to taste good. Pollo Tropical’s macaroni did not disappoint. It tasted just like it was baked at home. After that first experience, I knew I needed to go back.
Only one problem though. The Pollo Tropical we went to was a little far. So I put going back on the back burner for awhile. I didn’t have long to wait though. They were building one a little ways from us. I saw it about a month ago. Well it opened up last weekend and I am so happy. We went to the grand opening. It is located in Tucker, Ga. I was happy to attend the grand opening because the first 100 customers received a free quarter chicken meal. So my family of four got to eat for free. Who doesn’t want to keep a little money in their pocket. I know I do. What I like about this Pollo Tropical is that one Pollo Tropical is not like the other. The menu was slightly different. There are some things that were similar but some things were different. Like the Tropichops differ. The Husband couldn’t get the one he got at the location we first went to but they were willing to make it the way he wanted. So far the people inside are very nice. With the quarter meal you get black beans, chicken, and a choice of rice it can be brown, white, or yellow. The Husband, Tyler, and I chose yellow. Nishe’ chose white. They are generous with portion size. You are more than likely going to wind up taking some home. We all left with full bellies.
At the grand opening they had music and activities for kids. My kids enjoyed the rock wall as they always do. We also took a picture with the Pollo Tropical Mascot. He wasn’t very energetic but we liked him anyway. Either way we will be visiting Pollo Tropical more often since it is closer.
Have you ever tried Pollo Tropical?
