Over the weekend Princess S informed The Husband about a situation at school. I happened to over hear it because I walked in the room just as she got to the part about someone wanting to jump her because she was annoying and says hi too much. So I didn’t say anything at first but later on I brought it up. I asked her if I heard her tell her Dad that someone wanted to jump her and she said yes and told me what she told her Dad. I asked her if she knew the names of the students and she told me that she didn’t. I told her that I would be calling the school on Monday to let them know what was going on.
So Monday morning I got up and that’s exactly what I did. I got transferred to the counselor for her grade. She didn’t respond so I left a voicemail. She called me back about an hour later and I repeated what Princess S told me. She told me that she would look into it. First she was going to get a statement from Princess S. She called me back a few hours later with an update. That is after I called her a second time and left a voicemail requesting an update. They told me that she told them that another student told her that this girl wanted to jump her. Princess S did not know the name of the person or people who said this threat she just knew what she was told by this student. They called the student who told her this to the office and the young lady denied any knowledge of what Princess S said. Now Princess S has been in this school for a while and has never been in any trouble. There was one incident where her and this boy got in trouble. He was picking on her and she hit him but other than that nothing. So for me I just don’t see her making anything like this up. She mentioned another student she said the child’s name was Tammy or Toni. They said that they went through the system and couldn’t find a student that fit that name. They did find one close to it and that student also denied any knowledge of this. The assistant principal made kind of upset cause she was like it’s peculiar that Princess S couldn’t named who said what. I reminded the principal that she was only relaying what she was told by another student. Then the principal went “oh so she wasn’t there”. I reminded her that the counselor just finished saying that. I told them that the whole point of my call was to give them a heads up about information that my child told me. I don’t want my daughter running around being scared to be her because she is expecting to be jumped. I want them to be aware of the situation so that for them there are no surprises. I also want it on file if by chance Princess S has to defend herself. What they don’t know is I am documenting everything. That’s one thing my mom always taught me. She said document, document, document. That way if you need to refer back to something or recall something that was said it is already written down. I’m hoping this situation doesn’t go beyond this but I will definitely be keeping an eye on it and if my child tells me anything else I will be calling the school again.
