This weekend The Husband and I when on a day date. This is more exciting because I am the one who actually planned it. One of the things I struggle with is taking the reins and planning dates for the and I or just a family outing. This outing came about because a friend of mine posted about the grand opening on Facebook. It was the grand opening of Tin Drum Asian Kitchen. I had been saying that I wanted to try a different restaurant and this gave us the perfect reason to head over. Especially since the first fifty people in line would be rewarded with a year’s worth of free food. Actually it is a free entrée once a month with a drink.
So here’s how everything went down. We got to the restaurant about an hour and a half before it opened. There were already some people in line but it didn’t look like there were fifty. We were going to walk around but decided to immediately get in line. Let me tell you people were so serious about winning their free food for a year. One lady would step out of line ever so often to go count the people. Then one person was wondering if they count kids cause some people were out there with like three or four kids. Turns out they were only counting the adults because of course they are the ones with the phones. They sent someone out to keep everyone updated with what was going on. Then someone came out and started handing out numbers. The Husband and I were numbers 37 & 38. I was so excited that we actually made it in time. We stil had a bit of a wait to get inside. They were letting about five people in at a time. Other people were inside but to keep the line under control that’s what they were doing. I couldn’t wait to get inside because one it was cold and two I was excited to try the food.
Once we were inside I was ready to order and glad to be warm. I had downloaded the app and had already made my selection. I chose the Chinatown Lo mein noodles with fried chicken and they were also giving away free sandwiches so I chose a Sriracha Mango Slider. The Husband got Terriyaki chicken stir fry with sautéed chicken and the Sriracha Mango slider as well. The slider came with a choice of catfish and chicken. I chose the catfish and he had the chicken. Before I jump into the food let me tell you the inside of the restaurant was super welcoming and warm. It has a really nice environment and it looked great.
Now back to the food. The food was so delicious! I mean I really liked it. I don’t know if it was because I had been wanting Chinese food for awhile now or if the food was just that good. I think that it was a combination of both. I really enjoyed it. Lo mein noodles are my favorite. I tried some of The Husband’s food as well and it was really good as well. I know that I having the option to go once a month will give me a chance to try more items on the menu as well. The slider was so worth the wait. It tasted so good. I am going to try the chicken next time. It was really worth the wait in line. I can’t wait to go back and try something else.
I really had a great experience at Tin Drum Asian Restaurant. The staff was really nice and accommodating as well. It was really great to spend time with The Husband and get to try a new place to eat.
