I have been saying for over 2 years that I wanted to go to a spin class. I have seen videos on Facebook and those classes look like they are so much fun. Also for the past 2 years I’ve been making up reasons not to go to one. From I don’t have money to go to a gym to I don’t have time to go to one. But recently once again I have started to exercise. This time I have a friend Jasmine and some other women who is doing it at the same time as me. We are challenging ourselves to be active for 30 days. Our challenge started on the 19th of June we are currently 12 days in. I am so glad to have a support system.
Thursday Jasmine, another lady Mich who is part of the challenge, and I decided to try out a spin class that Mich attends at the YMCA on Friday. When we got to the YMCA I was kind of intimidated when I saw the bikes. Again it was something I had never done before. My friend was ready for the class though. So I fed off her energy and put on my big girl panties to face my fears. It helped that our instructor was very nice and encouraging. She appeared to be in her 50’s. She was a very fit woman. Seeing her running the class also made things encouraging. Cause it’s like if she can do it then I can too. The class was an hour. Within that hour the instructor really put us to work. The routines were really tough but it was made fun through the music she played. We listened to a mixture of old school and new school music. There were times that I so wanted to give up. Then I would look over and see Jasmine and Mich still going and I would start up again. I still had to take some mini breaks but I made it through the class. The class was so much fun.
I think I want to go back or at least find another class to go to. I’m actually glad that I went. It turned out to be a great experience. It was worth facing those fears. I actually realized that I could do it. I can see me challenging myself even more. I’m hoping this 30 day challenge will motivate me to keep going afterwards.
What are you doing to stay healthy?

I’ve never done a spin class but I remember when they first came on the scene and everyone was raving because they burn so many calories. I took an instructional class at my gym and then I remembered, oh yeah, I hate the stationary bike. Done!
Kgilbert says
Ha ha ha! I can understand that. At least you gave it a try.

Right now I’m doing the T2 Bodyshred program. It’s great and I combine it with Zumba a few days a week.
Kgilbert says
Oh wow! I’m going to look into that. I’m always looking for ways to challenge myself.

Nice job, you got it through it! My friend wants me to go to one with her, but I’m not much of an exercise bike girl, so we’ll see! You guys both make it sound fun, though!
Kgilbert says
Did you ever go? I am up for trying new things at least once. I really enjoyed it.

I’ve been wanting to try a spin class. I fear my butt hurting so much I walk funny the next day and it hurts to sit. hahahaha I’m a bit dramatic I know but yeah.
I’m going to force myself to give it a try.
Kgilbert says
It is definitely not easy on the butt. Especially if you have a lot of it. I found I preferred standing.

I’ve been meaning to take a spin class. Glad you survived your first one 🙂 I love going to Yoga.
Kgilbert says
I enjoy yoga too. I think people underestimate it as an easy workout but if they ever try it they are in for a ride awakening.
