Yep that’s right I am royalty but not in the England Queen Elizabeth since. I’m talking about a different type of royalty. I recently found out that my kids have a nickname that they call me when they are sitting around talking and hanging out with each other. I’m called the No Queen. I laughed when I heard it because I actually considered it sort of an honor. The way I found out about it was sometimes we all four sit down and just ask each other questions. This one particular time The Husband asked Private J and Princess S to tell us something that we don’t know. So they said a few things and then Private J popped up with that they call me the No Queen. That’s not my only nickname they also call me the Crazy Picture Lady. That one is self explanatory. I’m sure you all have seen their response to taking pictures sometimes. They don’t always look too thrilled.
I can see why they call me the No Queen though. Being that I am home with them a majority of the time they have to come to me to ask for things. Which means they get a lot more no’s from me than they do The Husband. The Husband says no but not as often as I do. He is a lot more lenient than I am which is I guess how we balance each other out. Sometimes I say no until they do what they need to do in order to get what they are asking. Besides who can say yes to everything. I think I could try saying yes more often. I mean to anything within reason. I want them to know that I am not going to say yes to everything. I’m not saying it to be mean. I can’t really be upset with them for how they see me. There are times that they have asked to call their Dad at work to ask him a question because they suspected I would say no but since it isn’t an emergency I don’t let them do it. Now if they just want to talk to him for a minute then it is a different story.
I think the fact that I have a nickname is pretty cool. I will continue to be the No Queen when necessary. I am going to try to loosen up just a little but not too much. I don’t want them to think that I am going to say yes to any and everything just because they ask. I am not going to tell them. I am just going to watch the look of surprise on their faces when I say yes to something they think I’m going to say no to but the No Queen will never just go away. Do your kids have a nickname for you that you know of? If they don’t what do you think your nickname would be?
