I have finished my third book of 2023. I am so proud of myself. I will be honest I kind of cheated cause my second book was an audiobook. But a book is a book. I am doing great so far this year reading. I am hoping to continue especially with everything I have going on. I am determined to not let my hobbies fall by the way side. Let’s talk about this book.
The book I just finished reading is called a It’s Not All Downhill From Here by Terry McMillan. The book is about Loretha who is dealing with an unexpected loss. She is 68 years old and trying to figure life out after her loss. She has a strained relationship with her daughter & her sister. But while she has struggles she has a great group of friends who are dealing with their own struggles. While dealing with loss she gets some unexpected news about her health. With this wake up call she decides that just because she is past 50 it doesn’t mean her life is over and that she can enjoy her life at her age and still make positive changes for her health. She and her friends encourage each other to do better.
I have to admit this book really opened my eyes. I really enjoyed reading it. I love how Loretha and her friends support each other. I love seeing her come to terms with her medical diagnosis and making the necessary changes. I also enjoyed seeing Loretha mend relationships and learn lessons of her own. She never gave up on herself and others that she cared about. She started to let people in and to see that some people weren’t as bad as she thought they were. Ms. Terry McMillan did her thang writing this book. I’ve been a fan of hers for awhile. I love that she shows that older women still have a lot to learn but also they still have things that they want to pursue. So I highly recommend this book.
