I am really trying to be positive these days. But I swear sometimes my ability to be positive some days is tested to levels that I can’t even imagine. Sometimes a day can go so bad it is hard to find any positivity in it at all. You really have to shove all the crap to the side to find a ray of sunshine. Tuesday I didn’t think I would find anything to be happy about when my day was done. Saturday I went to a job interview and at the end I had what I thought was a part time job. I was actually contacted by a team of headhunters about the job and I couldn’t believe my luck. I was kind of skeptical about it because at the interview process I had to wait a long time . The first time I waited about 45 minutes. Saturday was the second interview and I waited about 45 minutes again. I came to the conclusion that I was being petty because it wasn’t exactly my dream job. At the end of it I was happy to at least have found something part time and they were willing to work with me as far as my blogging goes. I was given a start date of Tuesday at 2:30.
Tuesday I got up and I was in better spirits but I was now nervous. I was happy to start this new journey. The place isn’t far from where I lived but The Husband felt better if I took a Lyft instead of walking down. I agreed. I had a Lyft credit that I could use so it wasn’t going to cost us anything out of pocket so I went ahead and did it. Around 2:15 I ordered my Lyft ride. It showed up about 4 minutes later. My driver was really nice. I got in the car with my purse. Oh yeah lets back track. One of the requirements for this job is that you have to wear black slacks. Well the only pair that I have doesn’t have any pockets. I usually keep my keys in my pocket but this time it wasn’t possible. So I left with my keys in my hand, my purse, and I got in the car. The drive didn’t take long. As we ride the driver and I chit chat. At this point I believe I stick my keys in my purse. We get to my destination and I get out the car. I go in I let another employee know that I am there and I go sit down. She comes out and tells me that the manager would be with me in a minute. Well that minute turned into an hour and a half. Finally I asked the same employee if the manager remembered that I was there. She went to speak to the manager and she came out like five minutes later. She told me that she forgot that I was coming. She also told me that she was on her way out to a meeting. So at this point right now the job is on hold. I left and walked home. When I got home I started looking in my purse for my keys. I could not find my keys. I dumped my whole purse out while looking for my keys and getting ate up by mosquitos. I literally looked for about five minutes and then I called down to where I was last which was my suppose to be place of employment. They told me that no one had turned in any keys. So I decided to take a loop around my complex to clear my head. Trying to figure out where the heck my keys are. Then it dawned on me that I might have left it in the Lyft car. So I went to the Lyft app and pressed the option to report a lost item. I put in my keys and left my phone number. The app says that the driver should call back within an hour. Well an hour past and I hadn’t heard anything so I called the Lyft emergency line and they were able to get the driver to call me back. She told me she did have my keys. I then only had 3 options. I could meet her somewhere to pick up my keys (This wasn’t an option because my husband was at work with the car.), get them shipped, or pay her to bring them to me. After trying to find other options I decided to get them shipped. I couldn’t get ahold of The Husband so I decided getting them shipped was the best option. Plus the Lyft Driver would’ve been in another area by the time he got home. When I initially talked to her she was downtown. Lyft was very helpful. I got home around 4:15. I didn’t get inside my house until 7:30. Plus without my keys I had another problem. The way our lock is made you have to have your key to get in and out. So yep looked like the kids and I were going to be locked in. Which doesn’t work since they have school. At this point I wasn’t thinking about just using my husband’s key. Thank goodness my neighbors allowed me to stay with them while I waited for my husband to get home and my kids weren’t with me because my daughter had a meeting and my son had band practice.
I could not see the positive in this situation at all. But I could see the lesson.
- Make sure you put your keys all the way in your pocket or purse.
- Pay attention. It was way too long for me not to notice I didn’t have my keys.
- I always check for your belonging
- Remain calm.
- Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
Lyft was great. They kept in contact with me. The plan was for them to ship me my keys but I got lucky. The Lyft driver who picked me up dropped them off at what was suppose to be my place of employment. I am so glad everything worked out. Did I mention this was my first Lyft ride? They were great. However my lesson is so learned. I will definitely be more careful in the future. If I’m looking for the positive in this situation I guess I could say I am glad I had somewhere to go and that everything worked out in the end.

What a long and extremely frustrating day! I would have blown a gasket 🙂 , but l’m glad you came through okay and was able to stay at the neighbors. Hopefully, they will be very few days like this 😉

Wow. I’m always saying, “it could be worse.” Even on days that I don’t know how it could get any worse! Glad you found the positives.

We all have those type of days. I’m just glad they are few and far in between!

Yes! I so agree. Those days are very rare.

Yeah I hate I had to go through it but I learned a great lesson.

Everyone has their days. I remember walking right out of the door, about to get into my car, and then realizing my keys are in the now locked house. I was late to work that day.

I know I would have freaked. I need to focus on learning the lessons when things don’t go my way. I need to exercise patience. I get so caught up in my own head that I miss the lesson.

Wow! What a crazy day. I’ve left my keys in a ride car sharing service and were able to get them back pretty quickly.

wow, what a day. I like the idea of learning a lesson after a bad day. Too often we focus on the bad day and not the positive. Glad everything worked out well in the end.

I think everyone has experienced ridiculous days, and if you haven’t just wait, you day is coming. Once it’s over, you’re just happy to be alive and that everything worked out in the end.

That is so true. It’s how you handle the rough that determines how you move forward.
