This past Saturday Tyler and I had one of the best experiences of our lifetime. We got to go to The Fox and see Disney’s The Lion King On Broadway. I have been wanting to see this performance for years. So to be given this opportunity was an absolute dream come true. Tyler remembered seeing the movie on DVD and has loved it ever since he was old enough to recognize it. So when I told him I was taking him he was so excited. I was so glad to be able to give him this moment. When Saturday came he was bubbling with as much excitement as I was. I was literally counting down the hours until time to go. We arrived at the theater at approximately 6:15. Turns out we were a good hour and a half early. So we took advantage of our time and took a few photo ops.
I had no idea how great our seat were until we got inside. The seats were absolutely great. We were close enough to where we could see everything. Tyler absolutely loved this. His seat was near the walkway so when the characters came through the audience he had a great seat. It was absolutely amazing.
The show started off just like the movie. The elephants, birds, and some other animals came through the audience. It was absolutely beautiful! One of my favorite animals was the cheetah. Whoever played the cheetah did an excellent job. I mean the whole cast was great but for some reason when that cheetah came out it just caught my eye. But from the main cast I have to say young Nala played by Nya Cymone Carter and Young Simba played by Jordan A. Hall absolutely blew my mind. They are so young and have so much talent. I thought they were absolutely fabulous. The whole time Tyler was quoting the movie and could be heard singing along. At some points he was telling me that some songs came from the 2 other Lion King movies. I mean the kid loves his Lion King just as much as I do. Below is a picture of Tyler’s reaction after the first half.
The music was fantastic. The play had some hilarious moments. I think the entire show was great! I think everyone should go see this show at least once both young and old. I highly recommend taking your kids if you can. If I ever get another chance to go I will definitely be taking Nishe’. Tyler said that his favorite character was Rafiki. Rafiki was played by Brown Lindiwe Mkhize. She was awesome as well. Tyler is still talking about how when she came out in the beginning speaking a different language and then asked the audience if we understood. It was no surprise that at the end of this show that they were given a standing ovation. I wish I could have taken pictures so you all could see what I saw but I can share this youtube video that I was able to find. It’s definitely a must see show.
Here are also a few Mommy and son moments we were able to capture.
The Lion King On Broadway will be at The Fox from April 10th -27th catch it while you can. You can also follow The Lion King on Twitter and Facebook.

Ahhh! I love this. Not sure my little one will sit through an entire stage play yet, but I’d love for her to see this. Did Ladysmith Black Mambazo compose the music? Sounds like them.
