Today we decided to stay home. We couldn’t figure out anything to do. We did have a little excitement today though. We had an unexpected visitor today. I am usually am not fond of unexpected visitors however this one I didn’t mind as much. I actually wish this visitor could have stuck around. As a young girl I was known to always be fascinated by the creepy crawlies that weren’t poisonous. Well I was fascinated with the poisonous as well but I observed those and moved on. Wasn’t going to try to catch them. Ha ha ha!! Besides I think my mom would have killed me anyway and I wouldn’t be the age I am now. My parents always called pest control (visit https://www.pestcontrolexperts.com/local/florida/ if you agree that this is the best solution) as soon as they saw a single bug, so they never stuck around long enough for me to play with. Honestly, I can’t blame the pests for not being there when I wanted to play with them. After all, it was my parents who seemed really keen on resorting to measures like contacting pest and Termite Control to exterminate the little creatures.
Anyway, coming back to the topic, when we were younger my brothers and I were always trying to convince our parents to let us have a pet but they wouldn’t budge until I was about 14. Then we had two cats who expanded to seven when they found a way to get together. However that is another story. My point is that because we weren’t allowed to have pets we were sometimes allowed to keep some of the little insects we caught. I had a caterpillar okay I had many caterpillars and I even caught some grasshoppers. Anything bigger than them weren’t allowed to stay in the house. So if it couldn’t be bottled up it couldn’t stay in the house. The visitor that came to our house had me reminiscing on my adventures of capturing such things.
Private J had gone downstairs to get some water and play. He had been downstairs for a while when it came back up. He stood in the doorway for a moment. I guess trying to figure out what he wanted to say. Then he proceeded to tell us how he needed us to come downstairs and see something. He must have been trying to shock us but then remembered how I hate when they use the word something. I have always hated that. I’ll see them going in their room, I would ask them what they were doing, and they would always respond going to get something. So now have made it a rule in the house that they are never to tell me something when I asked what they are doing. I don’t know when I hear them use that word it sounds like they are trying to keep what they are doing a secret and it is irritating. Okay I am so off topic. Back to the story. He back tracked and told us that there was a lizard on the new windows. After searching window replacement near me, we got the job done quite quickly and it turned out the neighborhood pests wanted to take a look at them! Now Private J has been known to pull a few tricks on us so I decided to go see. Him saying this also got me excited cause I love lizards. I don’t why but I have always been fascinated by them especially when I found out that their tails regenerate after they are pulled off. Princess S and I jumped up and went downstairs. Private J pointed us toward the kitchen. Sure enough there was a lizard on our window. I immediately went into how am I going to catch it mode after I told Private J to go and get my phone so I can take pictures. Why I didn’t bring my phone in the first place I don’t know. By the time he came back I had a plan. I was going to take two cups that we don’t use to drink out of and catch him. Princess S was not about to go near it. I mean I could not convince her what so ever. I wanted her to help me but yeah turns out my little lady is tomboyish to a certain extent. So after getting Private J to take a picture in front of it I got him to hold a cup and I held one. I thought I would be able to just get it to drop in the cup. Yeah right that lizard took off running like a ex-convict who just broke out of prison. I got him in the cup for a second but darn thing jumped out and took off running. Now mind you the only thing I got Private J to do was hold the cup after it started running he wasn’t having it either. Really? Am I the only one who see what’s going on here. I finally caught it in my living room with the help of my kids who while they wouldn’t come near it would tell me where it was. I was so hoping this thing wouldn’t find a place to hide. Oh yeah did I mention The Husband stayed upstairs the entire time. I mean really people it’s a lizard not a poisonous snake. Once I caught him I took him upstairs so he could see it and he let me know that in no uncertain terms did he want our little visitor near him. I asked the kids if they wanted to hold him Princess S said no and I got Private J to hold him. In my hands he had started to turn from a shiny green to brown. When he got in Private J’s hand he completed his transformation. I got more pictures and then we let him go. I swear if I had a cage right at that very moment I would have kept him. I always wanted a lizard for a pet. But I knew there was no way I was convincing anyone in my house to hold him while I went and got one. After a few photo opportunities we took him outside and released him. I let Private J do the honors since he discovered him. It was a pretty fun little adventure. Wonder if he will come back?
Here is the video of his release:
