I recently finished my first book of 2023. I have been debating if it counts as the first book since I started it in 2022. But The Husband and my son Tyler said that because I finished it in 2023 that it counts. So I’ll count it. My goal is to read 6 books this year. I also plan on sharing what I read with you guys. So let’s talk about this book.
The name of the book that I just finished is called Love At First by Kate Clayborn. The book is about Nora and Will. Will spotted Nora 16 years ago while going through a tough time in his life at his Uncle’s apartment. Well to be honest he heard her voice and saw her ponytail. That was enough for Nora to be on Will’s mind for years. He never thought he would see her again. But as fate would have it he did. He meets her again 16 years later when his Uncle Donny leaves him his apartment. An apartment that will wants nothing to do with since he has nothing but bad memories there. He forms a plan to deal with the apartment which unfortunately none of his neighbors likes especially the woman he soon falls in love with.
Nora & her neighbors who she has come to see as family aren’t happy about Donny’s nephew Will’s plans for the apartment of their dear friend. They feel as though his plans to turn the apartment into a rental will bring people who they don’t want around. Nora feels that it is her job to protect herself and her neighbors who she has grown up with. She also wants to respect the memory of her Nonna who left her, her own apartment. She wasn’t going to let an outsider ruin what she had. So she has plans for Will Sterling. Neither one of them expect what happens next.
I have to say I have a love/ hate relationship with this book. There was things I liked about it and things that I didn’t like about it. I love that fate brought them together. Who expects to see someone again 16 years later. I didn’t like how Will was treated in the beginning. He was trying to deal with the situation that he was given. I don’t think that anyone respected his decision. It wasn’t until he revealed why he didn’t want the apartment to Nora that she understood why he made the decision he made. I liked that everyone eventually came around and they formed bonds with Will. Both Will and Nora has their stubborn moments. More Nora than Will because she wanted things to stay the way they were. I thought it was interesting how they finally decided to come together. They were both dealing with their past and had to learn to let go. Will wasn’t really trying to find love because he was afraid to turn out like his parents. But once he started to let go and allow love in he is okay with it.
I will be honest I don’t see myself reading this book again but I will try other books by this author. I was glad that Nora and Will were able to workout their issues both individually and with each other. There were some things that didn’t make sense to me but I was able to get pass it and enjoy the book. I will be back to share my next read with you.
