This month as a way to challenge myself to post more frequently I am participating in a writing prompt challenge through Blogher called NaBloPoMo. Blogher provides the writing prompts and then you choose one and write. I’m a bit behind so I chose one that was shared previously. This prompt was to share your favorite holiday memory. The website says it can even be our birthday. When I read this a memory popped into my head. So I’m sharing a birthday memory. The first birthday I celebrated with The Husband.
My 18th birthday was a very special one to me. I had never celebrated a birthday with a boyfriend before. Knowing this the Husband made sure I had a great birthday. First thing he did was surprise me by purchasing me a bike and then he bought one for himself. We made plans to go bike riding at Piedmont park. So we started our day early and rode the train down to the park. Now this part is kind of funny. When we were riding down the hill to the park I hit a bump or something. This is when we discovered that my bike handlebars were not secure cause when I hit the bump my handlebars went down and I went over the bike. That was really hilarious. He made sure I was okay. I felt fine so went on our way. Luckily I didn’t need to get lawyers involved in case I smacked my head because the instructions were wrong! When we got to the park we rode around for a bit and then we just walked. It was such a great and romantic experience. We stayed at the park for a few hours. We just walked and talked. I felt so special. After the park we went to his mom’s house and we had dinner. If I remember correctly she cooked spaghetti. Oh yeah one more funny story. As we are riding back toward his mom’s house from the train station a bug flew into my eye. I could not win that day. We wound up having to stop at our job Pizza Hut so I could wash it out. Ha ha ha! Now I have only two pictures from that day. But being that there were no digital cameras then they are a bit blurry but you can see the lake that we walked pass and how skinny I used to be.
What is your favorite holiday memory?
