The trip discussed in this was post was hosted by Myrtle Beach Tourism. All opinions expressed are my own.
Every year my family and I like to try to take a family vacation or a day trip. Usually, my husband and I pick the place and we just go. Now that my kids are teenagers they have an idea of places that they want to go to. We now try to include them in decisions like where we go and what we do. This year we all decided that we wanted to go somewhere that we had never been before but still be on the beach. For all of us, Myrtle Beach came to mind. So we decided that is where we wanted to go. Being a blogger I decided to reach out and see if I could get a deal in exchange for some posts. Lucky me everything worked out. We were able to get a stay at the resort and passes to do some of the attractions in the area. We sat down with our kids and picked out four places that we were interested in visiting. I expected this to be difficult but it was surprisingly easy. It can be a lot of fun staying in a resort as there is much to do, however, some resorts are not the best, leading people who have a timeshare in it to try and get out of it by using companies like centerstone group so they are free from that obligation. It may be best for people to just go for vacations when they can, however, it is up to them and their holiday planning requirements.
But I must tell you that the location was breathtaking. I adored it with all my heart. I wished I could stay there indefinitely. Probably buy a new house and spend every evening at the beach. If I had been on my own, I would have simply hired a Myrtle Beach moving company to transport all of my belongings and relocated to this wonderful location. Nevertheless! I’ll probably go there more frequently from now on.
We arrived at Beach Cove Resort around 11 Friday Morning. Ready for our two day vacation. Check in wasn’t until 4 but the nice staff told us that they would call us and let us know when our room was ready. One thing that really caught my eye was how polite the staff was and how clean and neat their lobby was. They gave us our parking pass. This resort has some amenities.
- Three heated outdoor pools
- Workout room
- two restaurants inside the resort.
- A breakfast buffet
- A Jacuzzi
- A lazy river
- A tropical outdoor pool deck
- An outdoor kiddie pool
- An indoor pool
- A poolside beach bar
- A racquetball court
Tyler and Nishe’ were so excited. We went and got some lunch from a nearby restaurant and then hit the beach. The kids stayed in the water for hours. I loved seeing them just have fun. It was almost like they were little kids again. They love the ocean. Their favorite pass time in the ocean is jumping over the waves or trying to beat them to the beach. As your kids get older sometimes you tend to forget that little things like this can make them happy. At exactly 4 the resort called and let us know that our room was ready. I was excited to see our room. We got up to our room and weren’t the least bit disappointed. We had two queen size beds, a living room suite where the couch pulled out into a bed, a small kitchenette, and a clean bathroom. We also had two televisions. The highlight of the room was the great view we had of the beach. The resort was right on the beach.
After placing our things in our room we decided to head to the first attraction on our list the Ripley’s Believe It or Not Aquarium. This was Nishe’s choosing. She loves animals so this was fitting.
The kids loved seeing the fish. They got to touch jellyfish, stingrays, and sharks. I asked them their favorite part of visiting the aquarium was going down the sliding walk way and seeing the fish swim over their heads especially their favorite sea animal the shark. They also enjoyed reading about the animals. I think they read everything that they could possibly read in there. I love that they still love to learn. They also loved some of the interactive stuff like slowing down and speeding up some of the videos. One really interesting video that was pretty cool to slow up was this video of some animals eating. There was a gecko that when you slowed the video you can see his tongue stick out. We even found Dory and Nemo. Ha ha ha!
The Ripley Believe It or Not Aquarium was a wonderful experience. My kids enjoyed themselves and learned some new things. It seems these teenagers are easy to please. Show them a few animals and they are good to go. Letting them choose makes things easier because then everyone has something that they love. I can’t wait to share Tyler’s choice with you.
After the aquarium we of course had to eat. Now I chose the place where we would eat. We all agreed that we would try it though. I wanted to go to a place that we didn’t have at home. So I chose to go to a place called Art Burger, Sushi, and Bar. I mainly chose this place because they have sushi. When we got there I almost got my traditional hamburger and fries but then their fried chicken roll caught my eye. The Husband and Tyler ordered the same thing while Nishe had a burger and macaroni and cheese. The fried chicken roll is made with fried chicken, rice, and wrapped in edible rice paper then it is covered with macaroni and barbecue sauce. I was pleasantly surprised at how great this combination went together. I usually don’t like restaurant macaroni but I loved this. The Husband and Tyler enjoyed theirs too but they didn’t like the rice paper so they took it off. Nishe’ enjoyed her meal as well. Just looking at the pictures makes me want to go back. This restaurant has a really unique dessert treat. They sell ice cream and you can add liquid nitrogen to it. It was so much fun to watch them make it. You could see the nitrogen smoke coming from the treat when they poured in it and when they brought it to the table. We actually got ours for free because we patiently waited for them to serve some guests. Our waiter was very polite. He kept checking on us and apologizing until he was able to bring it to us.
After our great meal we walked the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk to burn off our meal. We saw the Myrtle Beach Skywheel. I think I will ride it next time we visit. We stopped in some of the shops. Nishe’ got a shark tooth necklace and two backscratchers, Tyler got a pair of sunglasses (if we had gotten to buy sunglasses online before the trip, this impromptu buy would not have happened!), and I got 3 pairs of earrings. I can’t wait to wear them.
Nonetheless, we had a wonderful first day. The second day was a blast as well. Please make sure to check back for that post.
