I don’t really do well with time management in the morning. I feel like I really don’t have enough time to get everything I want to get done, done. Especially when my job schedule switches to mornings like it did last week. I have a few things that I feel I must do to get my day started off right but I just couldn’t figure out how to get them done. I like to work out, manifest, and journal in the mornings. When I have to work mornings I never really felt like I had time to fit it all in.
So in an effort to figure it out I tried a few things. I tried not just sitting in bed like I normally do. I also tried making sure I had everything I needed before I went downstairs. My treadmill is downstairs usually when I get on it I like to watch a show while I am on it. Plus I started making sure I had my clothes ready the night before so I wasn’t running around like I normally am looking for stuff. The biggest thing I decided to do was not watch any social media before I got everything done.
I bet you can guess what my biggest distraction was. Yep, you guessed it: social media. One click on a notification and I was stuck in bed for hours just scrolling through. I would even do it on the treadmill. Not surprisingly once I cut social media out in the mornings I was way more productive than I usually am. I got everything I wanted to do done. Plus I was even early to work because I wasn’t losing track of time and rushing. I also stopped playing the games on my phone as well because they are another time guzzler. Eliminating these two things in the morning has definitely benefited me.
Don’t get me wrong -social media is an amazing thing. When you think about it, it’s such a simple idea and it can help us in so many ways. Recently my friends have been considering whether they should buy IG likes, which turned out to really work for them. They run their business through social media, and the more activity they can get on their page, the better. More likes equal more views and more followers, which gives them more business in the end. Without social media, their business probably couldn’t operate. I, on the other hand, am trying to cut back.
Surprisingly, since doing this I’ve seen a big improvement in my time management skills. I’m going to try to keep it going no matter what my schedule is. I figure I can reward myself when I get everything I need to do done. I really want to keep being productive and work toward my goals this year.
