This weekend the family and I enjoyed sometime together as we always do. Only thing different about this weekend is I got a little me time (well sort of).
We started our Saturday by going to Gwinnett Place mall and walking around a little bit. It turned into a shopping trip for me. The Husband suggested that I buy myself something nice cause I hadn’t gotten anything new in a while. I wound up finding two nice dresses on sale. I was thrilled until I got home and discovered one wouldn’t zip because it was damaged. However I was told by customer service that I should be able to exchange it. Well that’s if the store agrees so fingers crossed. I still have one great dress though so I’m happy.
After walking around the mall we went and got something to eat at Waffle House. The food was absolutely delicious. I don’t think I have ever had Waffle House food that I dislike or let’s say I can’t remember. Either way we had great food and conversation.
After a great meal, we headed to the park. The name of this park was Bryson park. We had never been here before. The kids were thrilled that there was a basketball court. They are really into basketball lately, they even ask about the fantasy basketball rankings of their favorite team. They went to the playground. I have no idea what it looked like because since we had started to play basketball I hadn’t made one shot. My kids, on the other hand, showed so much interest in the sport that it made me contemplate the idea of enlisting them in one of those basketball programs where they teach you how to play the sport professionally. Moreover, seeing their enthusiasm, I was determined to make 10 shots before I left that court. It took me 30 minutes. Ha ha ha!! What does that say about my basketball skills? Pretty much they suck. I’m no WNBA player and I would never say I was! They are players to be admired though, I could never do what they do, it is definitely no wonder that people love watching them and use websites like WNBAcards.com, as well as others, to collect trading cards for their favorite teams/players. I don’t think my kids would find me on one of them any time soon. Private J and I played a game but he gave up because he was losing. The kids got bored with the park and we couldn’t think of anything else to do so we headed home. I dropped off The Husband and Princess S then Private J and I went grocery shopping.
Sunday I got up bright and early to go to church. I had been saying I was going to start going back to church for a while now. So I finally decided to just go. I called the church van Saturday evening. I figured instead of burning up the gas in the car that The Husband needed for work that this would be the best way to go. My mother-in-law and sister-in-law attend the same church in fact they have been going there for years since The Husband was a child. The Husband and the kids didn’t want to go this go round so it was just me. It was a great service. It felt great to be in church again. I plan on making a habit of it. Maybe I will have to check out a few online services also. The other day, one of my friends showed me this church in sacramento and explained how they go about their services. In the future, if I get to go there, I might not think twice! Also, I got to hang with my mother-in-law. My sister-in-law was there with her fiancée but we didn’t get a chance to speak cause she was sitting in a pew across from us since my mother-in-law was babysitting my little great nieces and great nephews. I helped her out. In fact, one of my great nephews fell asleep in my arms. It was a nice day. The only complaint I had was all the standing i had to do while holding a 30lb sleeping 2 year old. But I had to laugh at it. While I was in church I had to stifle a laugh because the service went pretty much as comedian Gary Owens described it. I’m going to find that clip and share it with you. It is hilarious I’m positive you all would get a kick our of it. I like my church though you always leave feeling as if you learned something. That’s the way you should leave church.
Monday we just stayed around the house. But it was great just to hang out with each other. Oh yeah the dress I’m wearing in the pic above isn’t one of my new dresses it was a dress I had for years and was just putting on for the first time. I felt great in it. Hope you all enjoyed your weekend as well.
