This weekend the family and I decided to visit some parks. This time we had my niece Little N and my nephew Little J with us. We owed them an outing since when we previously went out with their brother Little M and their sister Ms. J they weren’t with us. They wanted to visit some parks. So we started off at Brook Run Park in Dunwoody. We have been to this park before with them and they seemed to love. They all had a great time and enjoyed it. Then Little N kept saying she wanted to go to the water park like her brother and sister had done when they were with us before. I always forget how kids remember details. Well since that park was a little ways from us we took them to Riverside Park which also has a fountain.
When we arrived at Riverside Park imagine our surprise when we found out that there was a festival going on. It was called the Second Wind Dreams festival. The organization was raising money to aid in the care of senior citizens including those with diseases such as dementia. The organization also aids in fulfilling the dreams of the elderly. This is a brilliant organization for seniors who are in need of that extra bit of help to assist them when needed. They come to a point in their lives, as we all do, where they need that extra aid to get them through, like knowing the way to buy final expense life insurance, researching care home facilities, etc. so they do not feel left out in the cold. Private J, Little J, and I were all watching the festivities when a sweet elderly woman walked up and told us we should go and enjoy the fun. They had free food, games, and one of Private J’s favorite things dogs. I kid you not whenever this kid sees animals especially dogs he is in heaven. I really think he is going to be a vet. We got to interact with a lot of people. It was so much fun. I think my favorite thing was that it was free and within budget. After a few hours we took Little N and Little J to their great grandmother . They were totally knocked out by the time we got there. Which to me is a sign that they had a fun filled day.
Afterwards we headed to the mall. We walked around a bit. Highlight of this trip was that I got me two new pairs of shoes. Payless was having a buy one get one and they cost a grand total of 28.33. Who can beat that. Let me tell you I needed them. It has been a minute since I got a pair. I thought it was really sweet of The Husband to surprise me. Honestly when we walked in I thought we were getting shoes for Private J and Princess S. But nope it was for me. It turned out to be another great weekend with family.
