Last week my kiddos were doing what they usually do laying around the house complaining that they were bored. I told them that they could always read, study, play video games, play with their cats, or play with the dozens of toys they have. I could understand them being bored though. There is only so many times you can do those things before you tire of them.
Unfortunately, there isn’t much to do in our area. There is no playground in the area where we live, so they don’t want to go outside much. Truth be told, as they were growing up, I always wanted to buy them backyard playsets because I had heard from parents who had children of a similar age how popular they were. Kids could spend hours and hours having fun with these types of sets, and I saw it firsthand when my kiddos would go on playdates with other children. Honestly, I really wanted to have a go on one myself because they did look like great fun. But that time has passed, and as they have got older, I have found that there is less for them to do. To say it breaks my heart would be an understatement.
So The Husband and I were texting like we normally do and I was telling him my dilemma. He said jokingly why don’t you walk to my mom’s house (his mom). Now his mom lives close to us but not that close. In the car it is probably a 15 minute ride. When I thought about it I thought that he just may have some. So I turned to Nishe & Tyler and asked them if they were up for it. They told me that they were game. So off we went. We were all absolutely excited.
The picture of above is when we were about 20 minutes away from our destination. It took us a total of about 75 minutes to get there. We filled the time just talking and imagining ourselves living in some of the houses along the way. Some of them were just beautiful. I would’ve loved to know what they looked like on the inside. Did they have a kitchen island? Did they have a swimming pool? Did they have beautiful chandeliers that needed to be fitted with their very own switches (somewhere like this electrical installations in Murfreesboro company will be able to help) hanging from the ceiling? There were so many endless possibilities and it was great to be able to let our imaginations run wild during the journey.
I mean it was really fun. They actually didn’t complain at all. We also reminisced about fun times and how they were ready for school to start and their goals for this year. I mean you couldn’t ask for more of a great time. It was also great exercise. It was priceless to see my mother-in-law’s face when she saw us walk up cause she wasn’t expecting us at all and she certainly wasn’t expecting us on foot. The kiddos have already said that they want to do it again.
