The other day I went to my mailbox and opened and I found a letter from my husband. I felt so special. I couldn’t remember the last time that someone had actually taken the time out and thought of me enough to write a letter. Sure he could have written the letter and turned around and handed it to me but nope he made it even more special and actually mailed it to me. He actually did the same for the kids as well.
We (Tyler, Nishe’, The Husband, and I) actually started writing letters to family and friends a few weeks ago. The reactions to the letters were so surprising. They felt as special as we did. I guess it’s the thought of someone not sending just an email or an text. It’s someone took time to actually put paper to pen and actually write to them. I have come to realize that in the age of technology we have come to rely on it so much. Actually for just about everything. So it means so much to people when they are actually thought about. My kids have gotten a kick out of people calling them and saying they received their letters and appreciate them. I don’t remember the last time they actually wrote a letter. I know it has been years for me. We even found penpals. We sent our letters off a few weeks ago. We can’t wait to hear back from them. It would be awesome to make friends across the country or even a cross the world. It is fun to connect with people outside of technology. Not that I am ready to give technology up all together but it is cool to take a break.
I think I am going to continue writing people. It is just something about being appreciated for being thoughtful and bringing a smile to people faces.
When was the last time you wrote a letter?
