Time to tell you guys about another book that I just finished reading. I believe this is the fourth book I finished this year. I have been trying to get back into reading. I think I am doing pretty good so far. You can find the other books that I read on the blog. The book I just finished reading is called One Italian Summer. I can’t to tell you all about this book.
One Italian Summer is the story of Katy Silver who travels to Italy after the death of her mother. She and her mother planned the trip before her mom died. They wanted to go to celebrate her mother Carol beating cancer. Unfortunately things didn’t work out that way. Katy decided to go on the trip anyway because she felt that, that’s what her mom would have wanted her to do. She also needed to figure out how she was going to move on with her life without her mother. She didn’t even know if she wanted to stay married to her husband Eric. So she goes on the trip not knowing that it was going to completely change her life and her relationship with her mother. She also didn’t know that she was going to be transported back to 1992 and see her mother again. Her mother is somehow alive and 30 years younger. She winds up hanging out with her mother and learning so many new things about her that she didn’t know before. She gets answers that she didn’t expect to get and gets to see her mother in a light that she had never seen her before. Katy does get her answers eventually and she will never be the same again.
Honestly this book was an amazing read. At first I had my doubts but my mind was changed as I kept reading. I thought it was interesting to see Katy on this journey. It made me rethink my relationship with my own mom and has me wanting to ask her questions that I have never thought to ask her before. It made me remember that my mom had a life before me. I mean my mom has shared some stories from her past before but I know there is even more that I can ask. I could also ask these same questions of my dad. Our parents are more than just our parents and we should get to know them while they are here. I don’t want to have any unasked questions or have my parents leave this planet and I wish I got to know them more. This book made me realize that my parents are just as much of a gift to me as I am to them. If you want to read One Italian Summer you can find it in your local book store and on Amazon.
