This weekend was so fun. I feel like since the kids have been in school The Husband and I have just really been focusing on reconnecting with each other. We have really just been bonding. With that comes us trying new things. The Husband has this really great eye for picking really fun places for us to experience. This weekend was no different.
This weekend The Husband surprised me with a trip to South Georgia where we visited this place called the Pasaquans. Located a little over two hours from our home in Stone Mountain. The Pasaquans is a place built by this eccentric artist named Eddie Owens Martin in 1957 after he fell ill and he said that he was visited by three future people from a place called Pasaquan. This happened after he ran away to New York after suffering abuse from his dad. He returned to Georgia and began building Pasaquan in 1955. Unfortunately Eddie Owens Martin took his own life in 1986.
Pasaquan is simply gorgeous! The artwork on the buildings is so colorful and gorgeous. It is a great place to take pictures. Hearing the story behind it is pretty sad. The creator went through a lot in his life before he created this beautiful place. It’s not huge by any means but I think it is still worth the visit. Now if you aren’t big on your young children seeing nudity I wouldn’t recommend taking them up there. There are three nude statues there. But they totally fit in with the beauty of the place. You can just walk around this place for a while and just be at peace. If you love art you would really appreciate this place. To visit is free but they are accepting donations. The area is now owned by Columbus State University.
The Pasaquans is a great outing and if you are into photography I think it would be a great spot for pictures as well. I know I got some really great shots. I think this would be a great outing for just about anyone.
