I love finding unique things to do on the weekends. Usually The Husband is the one who plans our outings. But this weekend I figured I would go ahead and give it a try. A few weeks ago I came across a map of tiny doors hidden all over Georgia. Once I read about it I got excited to give it a try. I love scavenger hunts. I think they are kind of fun. So that’s what I decided we would do this weekend.
We started our adventure off early in the morning. I decided it would be easier to get to the places on the map on our bikes. So we took Marta to the nearest train station that would get us as close as possible to the first door. This first door is located on the wall of the Krog Street Tunnel. The Husband spotted it before I did because I thought it was across the street and not on the wall. We found the second tiny door on the wall near the skate park on The Beltline. I almost missed this one because I thought it was located on the actual skate park. But nope it was on the wall. The third one we found was near King of Pops. This nice gentleman who worked there told us where to find this one. It was on the wall of the business. Next we headed to Pet Works where The Husband found it behind the door of the store. We had a bit of a ride to get to the next two tiny doors we found.
During the ride we happened to pass a great picture spot that I read about online called 54 Columns in Atlanta. It was a great opportunity to stop and take some pictures. Once I got a few shots it was back on the bikes and off to find something to eat and the next two tiny doors. For something to eat we stopped at the Vortex. I have been wanting to eat at the Vortex for awhile. So I was thrilled to give them a try. The Husband was too especially since he patiently waited for me to choose a place to eat. I really couldn’t decide and then I decided on one but found out that it was only doing drive thru. So when we came up on the Vortex I quickly decided that’s where we would eat. I actually thought I was done even looking for tiny doors because we were both hungry until we sat at the Vortex and I realized that one was close by. But first we had to eat. I ordered the BBQ Bacon Mac “N” Cheese with fries and The Husband ordered the Grilled Cheesy Mofo with tater tots. The food was so good. I really enjoyed my food. I never thought I would eat a burger with Mac “N” Cheese on it but it really worked. The Husband said he liked his sandwich as well. after eating we were off to find our 5th Tiny Door. It was located at the 7 Stages theater right in the entrance. I was so happy to find it. The sixth Tiny Door was a good distance away from this one. It was located in Decatur. So we made our way from Little Five Points all the way to Decatur. We found the sixth and final door of that day at a book store called Little Shop of Stories. Technically there were suppose to be two there but I was told that the first one was removed. But the second one that was made was there. It was a little tiny library. It was really cute. After this one we headed home. At the end of our ride we had ridden a total of 15 miles from the beginning of our trip to the end. It was really fun. I thought our adventure was over. But I was wrong.
Sunday we got up and went to breakfast. This really wasn’t planned. I had wanted to do something else but then I changed my mind. So it switched to breakfast. We went to another restaurant that I had wanted to try the Metro Diner. I ordered a chicken and waffles with scrambled eggs. I ordered scrambled eggs because I thought I was going to get like one or two pieces of chicken and I would still be hungry. Let me tell you I was so unbelievably wrong. When my plate came I had one waffle and four pieces of chicken. I definitely had to take some home. After that we had to run some errands. I don’t know how it happened but we wound up finding two more tiny doors. We found one at Milltown Arms Tavern and another at the EAV Farmers Market. So that was a total of eight doors. I was so thrilled. I am hoping to find more. I love this little scavenger hunt. I don’t really have a plan as to which one we will find next. I am thinking it will depend on the location.
I think looking for Tiny Doors is a fun thing to do as a couple, with friends, and especially with your little ones.

I came across this blog post because of something I was searching for on the internet (not porn I swear) & read the title “Tiny Doors” & just knew you were talking about a restaurant. So I started reading & no you were talking about actual tiny doors. Why is this a thing? Why would someone do that? I just have so many questions.

I think it’s a thing because it is something different to do. It is a really fun experience.
