I was a proud mama last Thursday. Last Thursday is the day that Tyler performed with his school’s band for the first time. I couldn’t be more prouder of him. This his first time in band. He has always expressed interest in music. He had a little drum that he would bang on when he was little. Unfortunately he wasn’t able to join band until this year. He spent all week talking about it and he was so excited. I just knew I had to be there to see my baby. This performance was actually his final exam. I was so excited to see him. All of us were there to support him. The Husband came after work. It was so cute! Tyler was so worried that he wouldn’t make it. I was getting text messages from him until Nishe’ and I walked in. Then he was calling and texting The Husband until he showed up. He and I both were breaking our necks looking for him before he walked in. He walked in a few minutes before Tyler and the band were to perform. I saw my son get the biggest smile on his face when he saw him. I mean he loves his mom but sometimes there is nothing like seeing your dad. I love that bond that they have.
You know we had to take a photo opp.
The instrument he played was the chimes and he played the cymbal. His part wasn’t big but he did a great job. My baby was awesome! He said he would like to play the drums or the guitar. The Husband and I are going to try to make that happen for him. We’ve already started looking at things like the Drumming Review. So hopefully, we’ll find something that we like.
Here is a video of his performance. My little man is behind the chimes. He told me that he can’t wait until he hits his growth spurt. Ha ha ha! The Husband actually got better video cause he went around to the other side where he could actually see him.

How sweet. I love band. I was a clarinet player many years ago. I can’t wait for my girls to be old enough for band. I think an instrument is an excellent art form for all children.
Good luck to your son.

Yes. I hope he sticks to it. I never got a chance to play an instrument as a kid.
