I always love sharing my weekend adventures with my readers. It is so much fun reminiscing about time I spent with my family. We enjoy each other’s company a lot. Our weekend actually started on Thursday. The Husband wasn’t feeling well so he took a day off to get some rest. Later my mother-in-law called and wanted to go out and have breakfast. So we all went and had a great meal at IHOP. Afterwards we went and I got the kids some shoes for school it was pretty much a success. The kids quickly found some shoes that they liked. Then we headed home for The Husband to get some more rest.
Friday the kids and I went up to The Husband’s job and hung out in the area. We went to the park but unfortunately it was too wet from rain so we went to the library and hung out. The kids sat and read. I did a combination of reading and surfing the internet on my computer. Then we went and had lunch with the husband. The kids always enjoy going up to their Dad’s job.
Saturday was the best day. We got up and headed out. First we went by Target and got the kids some more things that they needed to start school. After that we headed to the park. We went to a park that I had started to hear about a lot. Of course hearing how great it is we had to go check it out. The name of the park was Historic 4th Ward Park. It is a good drive from our home but let me tell you it was well worth the drive. The park is absolutely beautiful!!! To make it even better there was a soap box derby event going on being held by the organization Cool Dads Rock. This organization encourages dads to get out and have fun with their children. They encourage Dads to form relationships and strengthen the bond with their children. They also recognize Dad’s who do, do those things. I must say I was thoroughly impressed by this event. The soap box racers that were built were great!!! It was an awesome event to stumble upon. Since there was an event going on there were food trucks there and I got to finally have the food truck experience I have been dying to have. If you want more information on this group check out their Facebook page. Another thing I was thrilled to do was meet Griff who is a friend of Bert from The Bert Show. The kids and I got a hot dog off this truck called The Pup truck. The hotdogs were named after different breeds of dogs. I had a yorkie. Which was a hotdog with coleslaw on it and the kids had a daschund with nothing but ketchup on it but it usually comes with mustard as well. They were great. They also had free drinks around the park. There were also booths. The Hawks had a booth and the company Lance had a booth as well. There were many other booths but those were the main two that I remember. The kids loved the playground equipment they were very different from what you see at most park. I think what we all most got a kick out of was the swing where all 4 of us were able to swing together. We loved the fountain. Unfortunately the kids weren’t wearing anything they could get wet in which they were totally sad about. I told them to bring their things but unfortunately they didn’t. We told them they could definitely go next time. It was an absolute blast of a day. Afterwards we went to my mother-in-laws house and the kids got to hang with their grandmother and spend some more time with their cousins. They loved it. We went to the park in my mother-in-law’s complex and they just played. They had a great time. We even came home with one extra kid. My little nephew wanted to come home and spend the night. He wanted to hand with his big cousins. My kids really enjoyed having him over.
Sunday was my little niece’s birthday. She turned 5. So we all got together at Stevie B’s. Once again the kids had fun. They got to hang out with their
cousins, aunts, and uncles. They had fun playing the video games and everything. They also got to spend time with one of their uncles who they rarely see because he is often working. So when they get to see him they enjoy his company. They always love spending time with him. Everyone had a great time. I’m hoping we can do it again soon.
