I have recently started walking with my neighbor. We were catching up with each other a couple of weeks ago because we hadn’t seen each other in a long time. I started talking about how I had been struggling to stay active and working out. She said that she was having the same problem. I mentioned how sometimes I walk back and forth around our neighborhood but I was getting bored with it because I wanted to go further but I thought that it was safer for me to do it the way that I was doing it since I didn’t have anyone to walk with. She said that she wanted to start walking as well. So we agreed to walk together. I have found that it is so helpful. Even though I walk it isn’t always on a consistent basis. But since I started walking with her I have been much better.
I found that there are many benefits to have a workout buddy. I wanted to share a few with you.
- You have someone to talk to about your struggles or just talk to in general.
- You can hold each other accountable.
- Once you pick up a routine it kind of sticks.
- You have encouragement.
- If you are walking or jogging you are safer.
