Will You Won’t You Want Me by Nora Zelevansky is a coming of age book except the person is not your typical teenager searching for herself but instead a 28 year old woman trying to define herself. She has to make some decisions that she never thought she would ever have to make. Her decisions will cause her friendships to change and her life all together.
When I started reading Will You Won’t You Want Me? I have to admit I was not impressed. I loved the title that is what made me decide to read it. As I read further my opinion began to change. I began to connect with Marjorie and understand who she was. She was a woman who never had to work hard for too much in her life because things just happened for her. The things that happened to her served as the kick in the pants that she needed to get herself together and put more effort into her life. I can relate to that because I am in that phase of my life now as a 35 year old. I felt for her when her friend Vera became that word that rhymes with the word itch. I have had friendships fall to the wayside because I simply wasn’t good enough for them in their eyes but that’s where you learn and grow. She was a shoulder for her so called friend to cry on at one point in the book only for her to turn on her again later. I really enjoyed seeing Marjorie grow and she even helped her young tutee to grow a little and define who she was outside of her overprotective parents. It was amazing to see her pick herself up. Even though she had to fall down a few times to get there but who hasn’t had to do that. She was able to decided what she wanted out of life and what direction wanted to go. I was expecting it to be a little more humorous than it was because that is what I read in the description. I laughed some but not as much as I expected to. That is okay though. I got a lot more out of the book than just laughs. The ending turned out to be pretty good as well. I recommend this book to those who want something interesting to read. This is a pretty good book to read while relaxing next to the pool or a long car ride or just because you want something to read. I will say you will have to be patient and give it a chance. Will You Won’t You Want Me? can be picked up on Amazon for $9.99.
