One of my favorite things to do in the world is to spend time with my family. We do many fun things together all the time. It is important for us to connect and bond as a family. This weekend we headed to the Kaboom Play Together Tour powered by Disney Parks. Kaboom is an organization whose mission is to bring play back into the lives of children. Recess is being cut out of schools. So they want to encourage active and balanced play for children. This tour was meant to do just that. I found it while scrolling through Facebook and knew that my family and I would have fun attending this event so I signed us up.

We got up Saturday morning and headed off to Old Fourth Ward Park where the event was being held. As usual Tyler and Nishe’ had no clue where we were going but I knew that they would love it because they love this park. They of course wanted to know though. We pulled up and they had the biggest smiles on their faces. We signed in and started off by making a family team flag. I thought that was just awesome. We were also provided with free water bottles. There were also fans that sprayed water and spray bottles provided so that we can cool off. Radio Disney’s Cody B and other staff members were on hand to keep us all entertained. Cody B is so funny. He kept us laughing with all his antics. There were hula hoop contests, sing-a-longs, played human bop it (this was my first time playing this. It was so fun) , and we did the wave.

Tyler and Nishe’ really seemed to enjoy themselves. Nishe’ did almost every activity possible. She did the hula hoop contest 3 times. I’m going to take a shot in the dark and say that was her favorite event. I did it I believe 3 times as well. It was so much fun. She didn’t win but the first time she was 3rd, Second time she was 4th, and the third time she was 3rd. She definitely beat me every time. Mom has gotten a bit rusty over the years. Ha ha ha! Tyler did a few events as well. I the highlight of his day was building with the gigantic blocks they had. He loves building and plus it was in a shaded area. He didn’t compete in any contest though. He was just about having some fun. We ended up having an absolute great time. To find out more about Kaboom visit their website Kaboom.org . Kaboom and Disney really did put together a great event. I think it will really encourage families to take time out and play.
