This past weekend The Husband and I had a really great weekend I will tell you everything we did in another post but I wanted to share some self care that I did in this post. On Saturday we were walking through Piedmont Park. This has become a favorite past time of ours. As we were walking we came across a group of people who were talking about free workout classes. They were promoting their gym called MayWeather Boxing & Fitness that is set to open in March. They asked me if I wanted to try the class. I had to think about it for a minute because I knew I would be doing the class alone. This type of workout isn’t my husband’s cup of tea. So after a little encouragement from The Husband I decided to give the class a try. It was going to be the following day at a different location.
So let me explain why this is such a big decision for me. I usually prefer to do things with people I know. For me it’s nice to know at least one person in the room. Going to this event I wouldn’t know anyone there at all. It would be like being the new kid at school. However I really wanted to give this class a try. It sounded really interesting to me. Besides it was free so why pass that up.
The class was Sunday morning at 9am. I showed up at 8:45am at the suggestion of one of the coaches. I’m actually glad that I did because then I wasn’t walking into a large group of people. I also got a chance to get used to my surroundings which was in this pretty cool book boutique that I plan on going back to. The class was an hour long. The instructor had some great music playing which motivated me to move more. Besides the instructor there were other members of the gym walking around making sure people were in the right stance and ensuring we were doing the workout properly. They were really nice. So not only did I get a great workout I also learned how to properly defend myself a little as well. They were very encouraging as well. I have. To admit that I enjoyed being in a group of people who have the same goals as me which is getting into shape. We weren’t shamed for not knowing how to do things properly or anything. The instructor took his time showing each workout move.
By the end of the workout I was already trying to figure out a way to fit their membership into my budget. The workout left me feeling great although a little sore which I am still feeling today. But I felt like I got the workout that I was looking for. A workout that worked my entire body and pushed me beyond my limits. I wanted to do just as good as everyone else so I pushed. I really enjoyed myself and can’t wait to go back again and try another workout.
