Last week I had the pleasure of chaperoning two field trips for my daughter’s high school. It was a trip for the art class at the school. The trip was to the High Museum of Art. Nishe’ had asked me to be the chaperone for her class a few weeks ago. When her teacher found out I was on board she asked me to chaperone her other class as well. I told her I would be happy to. I was a bit nervous though because this was my first time chaperoning a high school field trip. I had no idea what to expect. I was thrilled as well though because this was my first visit to the high museum. The first field trip was last Tuesday. Nishe’s field trip wasn’t until that Thursday so I was by myself for this one. Well not actually but you know what I mean.
The kids were great! They were all so well behaved. We were all walking around and so entranced by the art. I mean there was some really great art work. It was simply beautiful. I didn’t know where to look first. I think my favorite area was the Gordon Arts Exhibit. There were so many beautiful photos and it told so much history. I found a way to take pics with my favorite art work without always bothering someone to snap a pic. I took a ton of selfies.
I also like the Mi Casa, Your Casa exhibit:
All the children were really well behaved. I had a really great time.
After seeing everything that I saw on the first trip that I couldn’t’ wait to go with Nishe’. I literally had to bite my tongue to not ruin her experience cause it was her first time going to the High Museum of Art as well. So I tried my best not to tell her everything so that I could see everything through her eyes.
When Thursday came she was ready to go. She too had a blast. She hung out with her friends. I got her to take pictures in front of her favorite works of art as well. She had a lot of favorites like I did. We and some of her friends decided to make a game out of some of the statues and guess what they were thinking when the art was created or what they were doing when the art was created. It was so much fun. We had some great laughs. They actually told me I was a cool mom.
Nishe’ with her friends:
I enjoyed both these field trips so much. I learned a great deal about art. All the children were great. Here are some more great works of art that will give you a great reason to make a visit to the High Museum of Art:
I survived the field trip and had an awesome experience. I am so glad that my daughter’s art teacher asked me to be apart of this.

What a cool field trip! I love all the artwork. My favorite pic is when you and the statue strike the same pose! I chaperoned a field trip to look for tadpoles at a local stream….BO-RING! I’d much rather go to a cool museum like this one you visited!

Ha ha ha! Yes the museum is so much fun. You can learn so much. I don’t know I would’ve had fun catching tadpoles too.

I’m glad you had such a great time during your first visit to the High! I used to go often to their Friday night Jazz series, but I haven’t been in a while…even though I have a membership! I must rectify that pronto! I’m looking forward to checking out the Gordon Parks exhibit.

It really was a lot of fun. We had a few minor issues but it wasn’t enough to ruin our fun. You’re going to love the Gordon Parks exhibit.
